Is the 8000HD able to handle mpeg4?

There are many variations of mpeg4, but yes it does handle mpeg4, directly or indirectly. What exactly are you looking for?

Thanks for your kind reply.
Well Im thinking of buying the 8000HD so I was wondering if it could handle some of these new formats that are on their way.
I guess mpeg4 might be use by many who supplies HD channels.
I am afraid I dont know that much yet.
It was just something I notised when I saw the spec. for 8000HD that it handled mpeg2. and thats actually why I asked because I know that Boxer in Sweden are using Mpeg4, just as an example.

Sat providers use H.264 encoding, which is a mpeg4 variation. The 8000 can handle H.264 decoding using its hardware. Xvid for example, divx, flvs, are other variations which of course are not used by sat providers, but if you want to stream them from your pc to the dreambox it can be done as well.

Have a look at the specifications and you will see the differences. Whether they are worth the extra money is your choice.
