i got a channel master dish, and have found a small hairline crack on the edge of the dish. it does not continue to the face of the dish but it goes go through to the inside. about an inch long. any advice on how to strengthen
this like fibreglass or the like. saying that it seems very strong at this point.

all mine have had hairline cracks on the edge no problems so far not yet dismantled the polar mount for you Harry let me know if you still need it just to add the reflector itself is metal under the fibreglass so no need to worry
Yes they are fiberglass as i have 2.
Both mine are over 15years old and not a single crack,
To strenghten you could rough up the back then lay over some glass mat and resin it as a way to strenghten. glassfiber is easy to work with but will need some acitone for cleaning down after.
How old is the dish?

Harry, Mine is about twenty years old and no cracks.Am used to using resin in my boatbuilding so it would be a good choice for repair. Keep it indoors as at too low a tempature the resin may not cure. My polar mount is showing signs of wear and tear. Not now available new. Did you have much trouble sourcing one? TMULL

my 1.2 has hairline crack three at last count 10 years ago also on outer edge not a problem no need for facy repairs but if you are worried you could repair but in my opinion pointless I will also need to replace or clean the polar mount next spring but the dish still performs as new I was told andrews are making the dishes now in the far east and not as well made

Harry my 1.8m c/m came with hairline crack on outer edge not a problem now the dish is living happily in spain the fibreglass is only a shell and has no affect on performance there is an inner metal reflector that probably does not extend to the outer edge witout this the signal would go straight through
