I would like to use the PVR features on my DM800 HD, I have plugged an external harddrive into the usb port, but it not working, what am I doing wrong can someone help me. thanks alot
This is what worked for me
1. Hdd is > 32GB hence had to use a tool to format it as Fat32. Used Swiss Knife get it here free www.compuapps.com/Download/download.htm
2. Add a folder to disk called movie (keep lowercase as shown).
3. Plug it into the DM800 and Initialize the disk
(Menu > Set up > System > Harddisk > Initialization) wait for completion.
4. Test recording whilst watching a channel
I. Press Red button and add recording
II. Stop recording after a few minutes (Red button & select Stop)
III. Watch recording (Video button, select recording and check its working ok)
IV. Reboot the DM800 …its important to check that the recording will still work after a reboot.
V. If its working Ok after rebooting (do step III again), job done.
5. If recording does not survive reboot, you need to add a mount command to the boot file
I. Use Dreambox Control Center (DCC) to FTP to the DM800
II. Open /etc/ folder then open /init.d/ folder
III. Right click on the file named rcS and choose Edit
IV. Add the following command at the very bottom of the rcS file
mount /dev/sda1 /media/hdd
V. Save and exit
VI. Repeat step IV to ensure that the recording now survives rebooting.
I have read that the disk ref: sda1 may not be correct on all versions (it was ok on mine)!

I have a DM800 with an external connected esata 320GB HDD. When trying to record using red button, I get a message stating "HDD too small < 100MB".
Any ideas why this is not recognising my HDD as the place to record ?
