Are you using the latest version of BBS Tools - v1.0.24 & did you patch both map folders separately. Shouldn't have any problems using the latest v840 map with the v8.204 navcore I've posted on the forum.

I use Albert's activation tool posted in this thread - browse to each of the map folder & then patch it.

ok mate we downloaded another uk map from your link but there was only one folder which we patched and put it to the tom tom. Next we patched the western european map (which was already in tom tom) and now only uk map is visible and we cannot not switch back to european map. we have try to find european locations to no avail. any ideas.
cheers kenny

Each set of map files are in their own folder -
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ir eland 840.2562
Western_Europe_840.2562
Make sure you do not have one folder inside another folder.

The Western Europe map should have exactly the same coverage for UK - so really you only need the western Europe map.

Don't know why you cant select either map though, if they are both properly patched then you should be able to select the map you want to use.

If it's an original map it will probably be a V6 version - so you will have to use one of the old activation tools, or you could get the latest Western Europe map :) :-

What is the exact name of the map folder - & make sure you have not got one folder inside another folder ?
Which activation tool & version number are you using ?

Ah - I remember reading something about this problem on another forum - the .PNA file may need editing - use NOTEPAD to open it up.

On my UK & RoI map the original .PNA file had this :-

ID=United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of _Ireland.pnaX1093176304X840
build=2562
id=381582

In the above text on the first line where I have inserted a capital X (twice) - after .pna & before 840 it actually shows a small box, but I can't copy & paste it here

I edited so it looked like this :-

ID=United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of _Ireland.pna
1093176304
840
build=2562
id=381582

Try doing similar with the .PNA file in your map folder

hi rusell i think i am going to give up on this now it got scary for a while as my old map wouldnt even boot up i have done a back up and got the old western europe map working again. The new western europe map doesnt seem to have a pna file in it to edit and i edited the uk and roi map as you said and it still comes up with the message cant be used on this device. The only thing i think i forgot to say was that i replaced the hard drive with a transcend compact flash drive but i cant see why that would cause this problem thank you for all your help with this and i will keep looking if you think of anything else i may have another go cheers and thanks again Kenny.
