Wave torodial T90 dish.

Hi Guys.
I live west of Ireland and it is time to change my old Triax 1.1 dish( Lnb arm moving,dish warped, all brackets at the back rusty).
I am thinking of the T90 dish with 4 LNBs( 19,16, ? and 1 deg west).
Anyone tried this dish? Is it capable of handling 4 lnb's? Is it easy to set up? I don't want 28 deg east as I have it on separate dish.
Is this dish capable to resist strong winds?

i have the T55 dish located mid wales with 3 lnbs at 19e 13e and 1w mine is capable of 8 lnbs at 3 degree apart also have 28e on seperate dish had it for 4-5 years now has worked very well for me strong winds not been a problem (touch wood).. think the T90 is capable of 16 lnbs ... not the easiest of dishes to set up unless you have knowledge of installation but once set up think it would do you well ...:respect-050:

-your position, what can be seen where you are with T90, which around 110, 120cm normal size dish, they say.....

-your interests

-your tuner...

Check Lyngsat and Ki*ng*of*sat for interesting satellites...

To me, if I can pull it off, I would go between 42'E and 30'W.

Hi Goran,
I live in the VERY far west of Ireland. My dish can only go up the roof on my chimney(like my Triax 1.1). No other choice as I live in a terraced house. Can't go in garden either as house is blocking signal of all major sats.( Very small gargen). Damaged too many motor because of gale force wind. So want a good sturdy dish that can resist those winds and beeing able to pick up most popular sats. 16 lnb would be too hard for me to set up.
I have a dreambox 600 PVR.

Check out the footprint for your area on Lyngsat and Ki*gof*sat. Talk to your mates, see what they can get with what kind of equipment... For instance, WI would require 90 -120cm "normal" dish to pick up Thor on 0.8'W

Better not to put it up on the chimney [unless it is seriously sturdy and healthy, big and strong] but using a good, well and multiply attached mast [3 times 4 screws, let's say].

The great things about them are:

-instant switching from one satellite to another

-no noise to wake the neighbours or the dragon in bed :D

-if one puts up twin or quatro [or worse :D] LNBs and one has 2 or more receivers in the house, and maybe some would even like a twin tuner, like myself - then you can watch something on one satellite and record something else, not just from a different transponder but from a different satellite altogether...

-each receiver can have its full independence across as many satellite positions as you can shove on that T90 dish

-only one dish is enough per house, for up to 8 single tuner or 4 twin tuner receivers, with Octo LNBs, for instance...

I would love to m8, but not much opportunity to leave here just now....kind of busy.

I have my T90 connected to 8 Quad LNBs with 8 in one switches. Been great but I still have problems with the version 2 switches on occasions version 1 no problems, but each time I try to buy version 1 they send me version 2. Maybe its about time I get myself 16 in 1 ?????

Any good suppliers m8 ?????

Goran mate, what info do you have that 28E and 30W are possible together on a T90, I have never tried to exend the lnb arm as I never even dreamed it was possible.

Fendoch says that the following does not work with the Centauri 8in1 V2 but with my EMP it does. I believe that Yoda has the V2, so we should hear from him on the subject.

I remember him stating that it worked with AZbox HD internal settings and before they wrote it fully and properly [prompted by yours truly :D], so that it could work with older versions, too.

Yoda, m8: how did you manage to get the V2 working in V2 8in1 EMP Centauri switches - if you did, of course?

-Fast DiSEqC -> yes and then
-Command order -> uncommitted, committed, toneburst
-Uncommitted DiSEqC command -> Input 1 [for the first 4 LNBs]

Then, one choses the second satellite, then -> LNB 2 and then it’s all the same for the first 4 satellite positions/LNBs, except:
1 = AA
2 = AB
3 = BA
4 = BB.

That's the first 4 satellites/LNBs sorted.

Then, for the second 4 satellite positions/LNBs it’s all the same, except Input 2!

For the third four satellites the only difference is Input 3 etc.

When I finish and press the Exit button, I get a little window asking me “Are you sure you want to exit without saving?” I answer NO, of course, not wanting to lose all of my work.

Then I discovered that it is enough to press on the OK button [it takes me to “Tuner A“, ergo the previous menu] and one’s settings are saved.

Once one gets back into the “Tuner A [advanced]“ – one can see that the new settings are saved.

But there is no “How to”/“Manual” or “Help” to tell one how to do these things, as they drive you mad! Imagine, you worked a long time to sort it out and then you have no SAVE button...

Anyway, this thread now has a lot of info re. this dish and adjoining equipment that I had the pleasure of testing and as per usual, I love sharing it all...:respect-048:

It's not the signal carrier that you loose.

The losses with EMP is like making the cable 10 meters longer, again it's not the real S/N signal dB you loose but the power ratio dBuV which you compensate with a line amplifier if you have excessive losses or long cable runs at 100 meter or more...

EMP is the best switches today, Spaun might have more quality but they loose on functionality, when it comes to S/N signal, they are all the same.

That was Njezic giving me the info, regarding my Q about the loses [my translation]:


SUR 211F has 1 dB loss. Compare it with 5dB-SAT/8dB-TERR with EMP Centauri. The difference is comparable to a Fiat and Ferrari.

Fendoch, I just read about T90, EMP 8/1 Profi line v2 & dream 500.

The man said it was working fine for a year and a half and then a big problem, which he sorted by finding a busted LNB and replacing it. He found which satellite was down, replaced the LNB and - OK now!

So, this would point to what I suspected: something HW-wise...

P.S. Apparently, "V1 has 3 switches, one of which is fired by 1.1 signal, while the other two by 1.0 signal".

In that case "repeat" settings, which one uses with cascade connections, "improves significantly the satellite switching."

V2 has one 1.1 switch, which "puts together 1.1 signals (1-8 uncommitted commands, so repeat settings isn't necessary".

You have given me a few things to look at........My problem just now is getting the wifes books done for the TAX man.....So not much time to look just now....but when I do then I know where to go......

My 800 is working perfectly off the T90 with a version 1 EMP.(all 8 Sats) Its the 7020 off the T90 on version 2 that is giving me the problem.....I only get the FIRST sat which happens to be 28deg, but I also only get certain channels !!!!! It cant be any of the LNBs or the 800 would not work on these SATS which it does flawlessly...so what I need to do first I think is to change over the sat cable from one box to the other and see if I get all the sats on the 7020 with that connections.....If I dont then its the box.....If I do then its the Sat settings on the other switch that are wrong......Do you agree.

All the LNBs are new but if they are all working with the 800 then it cannot be them on the 7020.....Do you agree ???

If I could just get another version 1 switch then it would solve the problem, but the last twice I have got these I have asked for version 1 and guess what ???? Yes they sent version 2.....Too much hassle to return them.....

I can confirm that using the V2 I have eight lnbs setup and working 100%.

I can not detail the Azbox configuration as I am not at home until Friday this week, however I can confirm that it is posssible using Centauri 8in1 V2, I also discovered the following.

The V1 switch would not work past the fourth lnbv input.

The V2 was simple to install, just tell the stb the lnb number and use D 1.1

These switches have very sensitive ports and can die very easily, this may sound like childs talk but I can not stress enough...

POWER OFF STB AND REMOVE THE POWER CABLE THEN REMOVE THE LNB CABLE.

Do this before changing anything on the switch or you will find yourself buying a new one.

Yes I changed over the output cable from the 800 to the 7020 but still the same.......So either there is a hardware problem, or I have burnt out the switch, as yoda says.

I would bet money that when you change the switch the problem will be resolved, these switches behave in some very strange ways when damaged.

I had a weird problem where a switch that I had blown was seeing every other lnb ie 2 4 6 8 but not 1 3 5 7.

Like you say we should be wiser but when your tinkering its easy to forget to power off the stb.

I had four T90's over the years, don't know why i love and hate them at the same time.

T90 is good if you live in central Europe like Germany and the UK, you get what you want and it's fast zapping.

In my region Sweden the signals are much weaker so you don't get everything you want with the T90, i miss BBC/ITV here with a T90 which is mostly the reason i have always sold them after some time, however they are so fun to play with as you can tweak and play with the T90 as much as you like, there's always something you can do better.

If i lived in the UK i would not hesitate to get a T90 as my main dish instead of my Channel Master 120cm with motor i have now

Had there not been a court case in Sweden, taken to the EU, by a couple of immigrants, who proved it's their RIGHT to have these services - who knows if they would care enough to allow me to have it...

It only worked after I threatened them and stood my ground with no room for manoeuvre...

I can hardly wait to have 2x16 twin LNBs and 2 x 16in1 switches, with a twin tuner receiver, that can properly support these features...:o16:

i have the T55 dish located mid wales with 3 lnbs at 19e 13e and 1w mine is capable of 8 lnbs at 3 degree apart also have 28e on seperate dish had it for 4-5 years now has worked very well for me strong winds not been a problem (touch wood).. think the T90 is capable of 16 lnbs ... not the easiest of dishes to set up unless you have knowledge of installation but once set up think it would do you well ...:respect-050:


How's the signal on 1W? I thought you needed a bigger dish for that sat?

Hi Guys,
Well still did not set up anything. Dish has to go on the roof and not sure about wind resistance. As I said winds can be very strong here in west of Ireland.
Anyone can reassure me about this?

It's not the signal carrier that you loose.

The losses with EMP is like making the cable 10 meters longer, again it's not the real S/N signal dB you loose but the power ratio dBuV which you compensate with a line amplifier if you have excessive losses or long cable runs at 100 meter or more...

EMP is the best switches today, Spaun might have more quality but they loose on functionality, when it comes to S/N signal, they are all the same.
I agree I have just tried a Emp Centauri 8 way and its great ..then tried a 16way and could not discern any readable losses .I reccomend these switches with DM800

atm I have a 1.1 trax on a motor but as thinking of swapping for multi lnb setup but to dual tuner on my vu duo like the idea of watching 39 east while recording 1 west

quick question what dose it preform like on 4.8 east in the north of the uk
my triax gets all tranponders on this sat but some are weak would not like to loose these.
