what format are setting files?

Hi,

I'm trying to edit the DAT files for the TPs and the channels. Unfortunately Telesat's software doesnt work well for dvb-c settings (especially editing the TPs). Is there a way to open the files using another text editor? is it a proprietary format?

You can open the file with any editor,like ultraedit,the problem you will face is you do not know what the data mean and how the data is layed out in the file.
Is not like you will see all ascii characters or plaintext.
I suggest to ask telesat,this information is not in a public location,afaik.
