You were right! CIFS working great here. 4 HD-channels recording simultaneously!! No freezes!! GREAT!!

Nevertheless I try to figure out why recordings on nfs mounts make the problems mentioned before...
Where on PLI image I can adjust rsize/wsize for NFS-Mounts (mounts created via GUI)? Can't find it!

Hi All,

Anyone having issues with the VTI image? I have flashed with the 2nd Feb image. I have got a twin LNB setup. I have one line coming in to the reciever from the motor and one from the second line of LNB to the second tuner.

First tuner is setup as motorised with long and lat, second tuner is setup with 'second cable of motorized LNB Tuner A'.

It seems to all be working in the secse of the complete arc reacheble. I am trying to do some recording now. I start of one channel record....but as soon as i flick to another channel VTi image crashes and restarts...anyone getting this.

Thats a big problem and i dont know if thats vti or original image fault.
This week we will get new set of drivers. Lets hope for the best. I hope they will fix important issues like switching from A to B problems and Cccam hanging when switching from A to B and viceversa. Also DVB TotalTV subtitles...

because I dont use a HDD so for this box is now perfect but I am sure they can fix the bugs as they have been doing so regularly.

i have latest vti image. i have tried and tried to get it to hang switching between tuner a and b but have never had it happen!i have motorised dish on tuner A and fixed dish on tuner B. find this image the best .

Ive lost all my channels.....I was testing out the new original image... and decided to go back to the VTi image.

When uploading the channel listings and bouquets (catseye) they seem to go fine. When i then reboot... None of the channels show in the listing. Nothing comes up in 'All', 'Satellite', 'Provider'...The headings come up in 'Favourites' but no channels are listed. Just says <n/a> next to each number.

Am i missing something?

I tried to hook up my box to a CIFS share so I could play the movies on my NAS on the VU DUO. The VU DUO has the VTi image on it. I went into mount manager and added the CIFS share as a mount and it said it mounted fine but I couldnt find the mapping anywhere even after a reboot. Any chance anyone could could tell me how I might be able to map and browse to a CIFS share on this image?

I know the images are still developing... Will have to wait for a fix to the recording of channels. I can record one channel, and then when i flick to another channel on the same satellite the box crashes. (VTI image lastest with updates - 1 dish Motorised setup with Single twin output LNB).

I recommend that anyone that has problems, record problematic channels (you need to use original 3.1 image) and send this recording to admin (cocksy) of vuplus-support.com.
I have done this and i hope now they will fix this.
For now iam stuck with original receiver, but i would like to swtich completely to vu+ duo !

@oldskul - u say to use official 3.1 image. I tried using this image. However when I tried to upload catseyes bouquets they do now show up properly as they should. No channels show up. All the channels show as '(n/a)'. Show I switched back over to vti. I did also enable multiple bouquets. Any ideas?

I already have mine, I'm using the VTI and barry nabil 12 and gemini 4.70

I have the 8000 also and I dream a little comparing these two great machines.

demomento have put a usb card reader with a 1GB CF card in voodoo and without problems, is slower than the 8000 because the reader is not integrated, but it works perfectly and is slower, it load faster multiboot my 8000

I see a lot of bug in the official images and the others, it is normal because the device is fairly new.

I have a problem with the internal hdd 250gb, I would not recognize any image, maybe this hdd does not like. I work the internal sata hdd?

The rear fan is not the best that could have put a penalty that peep, maybe change it for another or maybe switch it off, wait and see because there are plenty of free space, maybe I disconnect that and I put one of 15cm silent giant.

this cool command and responds well, the white color is somewhat exaggerated as a gray or blue I would have liked more, stain less.

I'm with 2 engines motsat3 working well, I've noticed less signal the device opens more than the 8000, once the 8000 short video signal, maybe it's the tuner.

system installation image with the usb I have not worked, folder, subfolder, files do not seem to me to work. to my folders would be better left in oblivion, and put in root files, or improving the routine to find files. I tried FAT32, NTFS, ext2, ext3

the installation of the image using the program on the pc, this pretty well, is simple, the shipping is fast and rapidisimo update, you notice those extra 50mhz.


I've tested the VTI and bluray, I have M2TS 48GB Cars 1080, and it works perfect, has the sweetness that is lacking in 8000 now.

PLI todays build 17.02 it solves a lot of problems BUT not all
As usual and like has been CCam all versions ok as server and clients.

Setup -

cable 1 from lnb to motor. cable out of motor to Tuner A. Cable 2 from lnb to tuner B.

Tuner A - simple config with positioner mode, Set lat and long.
Tuner B - Second cable from Motrised LNB.


Ok....So i tried 3.2 again.

Same issue. Flashed and re-flashed. Channel listsing and Bouquets still showing as <n/a>

Have also had a go with latest Pli image.

1. Timeshift still not working.

I am able to record multiple channels and switch to other channels as long as a tuner is free. I have tried this with cccam and no freezing. I think issues exist depending on the tuner configs. I had 4 SD channels recording with no issues. I was able to zap around to channels. I havbe also tested the recording od HD channels. 3 HD channels recording at the same time and watching one. No crashing whilst zapping around channels. Again ofcourse to channels on the sam transponders.

yes you can or you can add VTI server details in var/etc ipk confg and download from there. No trouble with diseq 1.2 , not for me

You can do this in Tunersettings, connect Tuner B to Tuner A, but 100% stable is only two Cables

I get my mkv files on to my laptop then if it is DTS audio I use software called audio converter to turn DTS to AC3.
Then FTP the mkv file to the VU+ HDD drive and watch via media player.

Some MKV files do have problems and I am trying to find out why. I have saving private ryan in 720P mkv which plays perfect on laptop but not on VU+.

Iam really dissapointed with PLi image. PLi image has two big problems. Timeshift doesnt work and switching from tuner a to b (cccam hangs) doesnt works as it should.
And all they say is that this is not PLi but original image fault. LOL?

No wonder that everyone is using Gemini/Newnigma/Nabilo/Dreamelite images in DM world.
I hope that DreamElite group will decide to support this box. Their image is really the best.

Vti 0.4 does not have timeshift or recording problem.

I have successfully used timeshift, recorded two channels (SD & HD - via cccam and FTA) and watched another channel with no crash. Seems to be working well at the moment.

I have a motorised setup with twin output LNB. Tuner A = Motor, Tuner B = Second cable of motor.

Anyone else with similar results?

@oldskul - I havent tried BA - Gemini/Newnigma/Nabilo/Dreamelite - Which one of these images works best?

For whatever reason i cant get it to work, install it okay and when i try to get it to do a manual epg import. it just doesn't do anything... :-(

How to install and configure xmltv-import on Enigma2 Pli-images :

When you have installed OpenPli on your box, you can go to Applications, press the green button. Then you'll see a menu, go to extensions and look for xmltv-importer.
Press enter or OK button to start the installation. Now you have the latest version installed, restart Enigma and go to applications and you will notice the label "EPGImport".

Now go into this program, there are some options but first we press blue button to go to the sources. Here you can select with the OK button which EPG data you like to download.
Press green button to save this selection. Now we are back into the first menu where we can change the time when the plugin should start. Do not set this time before 04:00am because I create the EPG data just before 04:00am.
If your box is in deep-standby you could wake it up to start the automatic download, and you can set the amount of days for full descriptions.
Could be helpful if you have selected a lot of epg sources and your box has not much memory you could set this days on 5, so the epg data is loaded for 5 full days + 2 days.

Do not forget to save this config by pressing green button, then you will be prompted to the applications menu.
If you can't wait untill the automatic import, which I can imagine smiley, you can go into the EPGImport panel and press the yellow button for a manual download, you will be asked if you agree by pressing OK.
Now you will see in the main window the amount of events it is processing.
You can press exit to go back to the application panel, it's not needed to wait untill the import is finished.

How to install the plugin on NON-PLI images :

After the installation of another Enigma2 image (Gemini, Ozoon, Newnigma, LT) you have to install a few more files in this image. Download the file python_ipks.zip above and unzip it on your computer.
Also download the above files enigma2-plugin-extensions-xmltvimport_x.x-rxx_mipsel.ipk and enigma2-plugin-extensions-xmltvimport-rytec_xxxxxxxx-rx_all.ipk to your computer.
Use for example DCC to connect to your dreambox. Then copy the following files to the folder /tmp on your dreambox :
python-zlib_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk
python-compression_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk
python-shell_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk
python-html_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk
enigma2-plugin-extensions-xmltvimport_1.0-rxx_mipsel.ipk
enigma2-plugin-extensions-xmltvimport-rytec_xxxxxxxx-rx_all.ipk
For Gemini users ; go to blue panel in Gemini and select filemanager, browse to the folder /tmp and select first the python-zlib file and press the green button to install this package.
Next we select the python-compression for installation then python-html, then python-shell, then we select the xmltv-import plugin and at last the xmltv-import-rytec and install it too.
Now restart Enigma2 and you should be able to activate the EPGimport through the applications panel.
For other users who do not have a filemanager in their image, they can make a Telnet session to the box and install the ipk's by using the command "ipkg install /tmp/python-zlib_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk"

Known Issue’s :

There are incompatibility problems if you use Gemini 4.5 or higher, keep this in mind !! Reason : Gemini is implementing epg.dat functions.

It can also happen that automatic EPG Import will not function properly after installation, although manual EPG Import works fine,the workaround is to open a telnet session to the dreambox.
Then after login with root, type behind # init 4 this will stop enigma2.
Now change in xmltv.dat the time to import 5 minutes later and change the value random to 0 (you can do this with DCC for example).
In the telnet window type # enigma2.sh
Wait untill import starts and after this is completed and change back the importtime to 4:45 and the random value to 1.
After this you choose restart enigma via menu.
Now wait untill prompt is coming back in telnet session and type behind # init 3
This will start enigma again. (now you have to wait another day to see if the automatic import works)

Think all my problems are because of my HDD...seems to be really flakey, keeps losing all it's contents on a reboot. Think i need to buy a new HDD :-(

@pieface - I had a few issues with this. Install epgimport....

Then upload all files 5 files to the /tmp folder. Go to filemanager and install first the xmltv ipk. This should automatically pick up or download the other dependent files (if they are also in the /tmp folder). Then reboot the box. Done.

The box hardware wise is very stable. Image it is dependent on your config of the tuners. But images at the moment are pretty good.

2- Does it often hang or crash ?

Hanging and crashing does not seem to be an issue in the main. cccam was hanging before but fixes have been applied to the software to correct. Or unless you do something that the box does not like. :-)

3- Any fan noise or over heating issue ?

No over heating issue that i am aware off. Fan silent as it can be.

4- What images does it support, also can you have multiboot?

Images i believe are, Pli, Vti, Orginal... Some others have said that they will also support the box. Barry Allen does work on the Vti image...but not recommended as it slows down the performance of the box/software.

5- What is the best and most stable image ?

I am at the moment using Vti 0.4. I bounce around between Pli and Vti.

6- How is the SD picture quality ?

Picture quality is awesome. This is my first satellite reciever and it is great...Im sure if you read through this whole thread you will find more would support this statement.

7- How good is the CCcam support for cs and what other emus does it support ?

I know it has cccam as i use it. I dont know to much about the others out there. I am still a newbie to this. Im sure others can give you the answer to this. I think newcs and mgcamd work too. (Correct me if im wrong guys)

8- Does it have Blind Scan function ?

LOL - never had to do a scan, i use bouquets channel listings from catseye's compliation.

9- Can you use V-Box2 or Gbox v500 DiSEqC positioner with the Vu+ Duo internal DiSEqC to control a motorised dish and is it easy to setup & operate?

I currently have a 80cm dish with Technomate 2600 motor and twin LNB out. works well with this motor if thats what you are asking.


10- I read that this receiver can use the Dreambox 8000 images and plugins , then will this image enable the Vu+ Duo to perform all its functions and futures (like timeshift, 2 tuners, recording, etc) ?

Timeshift, 2 tuner recording working...all working.

11- How sensitive is the tuner ?

Not sure how sensitive the tuner is and in what sense you mean...But id say pretty sensistive as in it works well. :-)

12- Can it be used as a server and a client ?

Yup, this has been tried and tested by many people.

13- Any lipsync issue with encrypted channels ?

Not that i have noticed.

14- If you have single feed LNB how can you loopthroug from tuner A to tuner with the lack of LNB out socket at the back (someone said you can loopthrough internally but i can't see how looking at the internal board of the receiver) ?

I think this is configureble via the software tuner configuration.

15- If the internal flash got corrupted , can you use Jtag to reprogram it again ?

Subtitles on TotalTV channels dont work, tuner drivers need to be tuned up, no other major bugs. They ironed almost all major bugs quite fast.

Atm box is very stable for me, cccam sometimes hangs (i have original 3.2 image).
3- Any fan noise or over heating issue ?
You can hear noise. Box is warm but not critical. That is normal. You wont get box that is cool as snow :D
4- What images does it support, also can you have multiboot?
Multiboot (Barry allen) is possible but i do not recommend this as it consumes too much ram and its unstable. Flash images are: VTI, PLi and original
5- What is the best and most stable image ?
VTi, PLi is close. It has problems with timeshift and cccam sometimes hangs when switching from tuner a to b.
6- How is the SD picture quality ?
Good
7- How good is the CCcam support for cs and what other emus does it support ?
Same as dreambox. It supports newcs (it has problems with internal cardreaders though), oscam, scam, mgcamd, ccccam etc. etc.

I tested a pli image and tbh I dont like the way everything is hidden under lots of different menu's - you should try the VTi because its alot more straight forward

I have spent most of my time this evening, trying to get both tuners working

set my 1.2 (diasque) mot dish to lnb 1 (on all available sats)

and my 1.2 channel master (36v) to lnb 2 also (on all available sats)

but can,t access 28 east, although it scanned ok on the 1.2 diasque (get message "tune failed"

but it can see 1 west via the chanel master

I've just received my Vu+Duo today and taken afternoon off work to try and set it up....doh!

I've upgraded from a technomate 5400CI+ USB and was keen on the Vu 'cos of all the good reviews etc on this and other sites...and because I use an Apple Mac and so need USB updates option.

So far I've managed to upload a Pli image to the box ok. However my satellite scan only gives me 112 'services' across 13E and 19E (I have a monoblock) - no matter what I do I can't get anymore.

I've read to download Catseyes - which I've done - but it seems I need a pc connection to upload this to the Vu

Any help / suggestions greatly appreciated?

That's already set up - also downloaded a plugin channel list and plugin DisesqC tester. The channel list is very uptodate - everything there, but stiil no signal. Constantly says 'Tune failed'. The DiseqC tester doesn't seem to recognise any transponders?

Whatever is the case this box is selling like hot cakes and has a lot lot of SATISFIED customers and sellers.

Just to let you know....

I applied the Pli image from the 26th Feb...

The image was working fine...i have catseye bouquets and channel listing setup. I have now just done a software update... Today....So i assume that will be from changes that were made to the image up to the 27th.

Now ive zapped over to Sly Screen 1 (Movies channel), and when i want to zap over to Sky Screen 2 it comes up with 'Check tuner configuration'.

I have the motor setup on tuner a...and lnb direct on tuner b.

What does this mean? Does this mean there isssues with certain transponders? Is it a bug in the drivers again? Im at a loss.

All i can think is to re-flash the box rather then doing a software update which i thought would work fine. Maybe not. Anyone else that can try this?

You need to re-enable one of the sats @28e in the tuner setup. I did a software update, and i think because the original image has only one sat position at 28e it disables the other (28.5 i think) Catseyes has two sat positions @28e

I had the same problems on my PC and still have. Even a buffer of 5 seconds and more didn't help. It seems that hardware isn't good enough!

On my Laptop with Core Duo and Quadro FX graphics there is no problem! No freezing at all!

What do you use as hardware on your PC? And especially what grphics card?

I configured the tuners as i needed them configured. If that enabled the sats then i did not know.

Also i am usinsg catseye bouquets so have not found it neccassary to do a scan.

Have managed to sort out since though. Re-flashed the box via usb with the image from the 28th. Looks like there could be an issue with the way sofftware updates work via the Pli Image.

FYI - I am using 80cm dish, tm2600 mtor, twin output lnb.

Hey foggy. Yup. I just reflashed with latest pli. Apparently pli image has troubles with the software update through the menu which was probably the cause of the issue. All good now.

How to setup 8 sats with 8x1 disecq?

Hi.
My vuduo arrived this afternoon.
I installed the pli image and I'm trying to setup my sats.
I have 8 sats in a dissecq 8x1 that works good in my azbox premium.
With the vuduo I am having some probs to setup the sats in advanced mode (only one tuner conected) because the box see only one sat.
Certainly I am doing something wrong.
Any help?

anyone tested dreamelite?
I tested it and i noticed that it consumes alot of ram, i also dont like channel lists on all Matrix10s HD skins.
Also i noticed that after deep sleep, samba doesnt work anymore and when i want too install addons they dont install at all! I have to restart whole box!

I returned to PLi. Simple, light, stable, great (SD) skin (my familiy loves this skin) and easy to use.

Thank you very much quibath , looks smart but the price of € 349 is too high as you can get the much better spec'ed Duo for an extra € 50 .
Initially the rumour said that it will be around £200 but at about £320 it is more expensive than the forthcoming DM500HD , So the Duo is much better Value at the moment unless when they release the Solo it will be around the £200 mark.

CCcAM ALL versions unpaired Irdeto cards are ok, on ALL images made FOR VU+

Have you contacted the provider to send emm ? This is a comon problem with this card.

There is also a tool you can use but you need to use a proxy if you are in the UK.

I tried to compare between old DM500 and the Vu+ Duo in handling JSC sports irdeto card 0603. Both STBs with the same version of CCcam 2.1.4 and same CCcam.cfg. The DM500 decoded the channels straight away while the Vu plus just continue to send ECM with 0% success rate. So I guess it is a bug in the Vu+ Duo. BTW, I tried on both VTI 4 and 5 with the same result. Anybody with JSC sports can confirm this? Thanks.

OK, I grabbed packets from the ECM pid 1520 (channel ANT-1 of Nova package at 13E) on both DM800 and VU+. This channels shows six CHIDs in DM800 and only two in VU+. It seems that VU+ skips packets. DM800 got 100 packets in nine seconds. VU+ got 100 packets in 26 seconds. By examining captured data, VU+ gets only one packet every three packets while DM800 gets all six packets. And this is happening again and again. It is always the same two packets (1st and 4th in the log) that are received in both receivers.

It seems for now going back to an image with previous drivers is the answer.

its not worth. Even they admited that this image its not 100% ready. For example, skins are not 100% compatible etc. etc.

I have installed the deluxe media player but it crashes when using the colour buttons.
Does this image support AC3 ? because I have tried two movies with AC3 and both playback with no sound.

OK tried all my mkv movies with ac3 and not one single one plays back with sound.
