stream from pc to dm8000

Have been trying this on and off for a week or so and im not sure what im doing wrong have try a number of different settings but dont seem to be getting any were have vlc running on pc (0.8.6i) have went to settings add interface then clicked web interface then go to dreambox vlc and put ip of pc in save it then try and run it it always times out is there settings i need to put in to vlc on pc and is there any other settings other than my pc ip i need to put in to the dreambox vlc settings

yu don't need VLC or any other servers. Just put your PC on the network and play the files on the DM.
Networkbrowser is where you start .....
(Don't forget to share the directories where your media is)

wow i didnt know that about the 8000 mate.
so the 8000 is fast and powerfull enough not to have to use VLC,yet another reason for me to drool after one.maybe one day when im rich and famous.ian.

Plays *most* formats, but doesn't play .WMA
with the 'new' DTS passthrough - you have to have an external amp to get audio - but at least it IS DTS.

ok think i have the pc set up on the network to share now if i have this right i download networkbrowser from the addons server then go in and set the settings for it dose it take a while to load the settings when done
