Hi there
I'm after an hd eceiver and decided to go for tm. From what i read it has a great support, lots of updates etc. My main concern is ethernet port. I decided against 6900 since i can get freeview anyway and see no point (unless someone can enlighten me). I can get 6800 for £130 but have to pay at least 70 quid more to get super version. Is it worth it?
I am newbie here and all this is magic for me at the moment. I read that ethernet port opens more possibilities when it comes to cs. But what i would like to know is:
1. is there any use of this when nagra3 comes in.
2. can i get 6800 and get wifi cam and have exactly the same setup and possibilities as 6800 super?
any help appreciated
Nothing is future proof. Wifi could be a bottleneck, your router may block some internet traffic from and to the technomate. Can't give you an answer on the other issues: no experience with these.
Hope other members have answers for you.

Hi Adam
i've the 6800 non super and find it a great little box , i live in the welsh valleys and find freeview pointless so i had no need for the super or combo. the picture from the tm is great along with the 2 ci slots you should have no probs in the furture . if you want to go the cs route the 6800 will do it but you will have to use something like ' wsp' which is ment for the humax but works well if you set it to humax sssp via the rs 232 port on the back of the box or you could use a wifi cam .
i've found it read the recent silver card file for via 2.6 with no probs also works well with the sly white card.
for my needs the tm fits the bill spot on , it my not be the all singing all dancing box like the linux systems , but is very easy to use and update and for the price i think you cant go wrong.
hope it helps ..

If you want freesat mate, buy a Humax, they are superb quality.
The tecnomate is a different animal with a motor dish, there is much more you can do and they are pretty good for the money - I bought the 6800hd due the the reasonable afforderble price, however when they start running iplayer on freesat I might regret that desicion.
I could be corrected here but as far as encyption is concerned I think the std and super do the same, with appropiate patching (if you went down that route)

well i got I got both 6800hd super and 6900 hd super ,to be quite honest i can't see what is the difference between them, they put the price up for the 6900 because the free view ,the two receivers they are almost the same,i wouldn't give a toss for the free view as i never use it ,i heard that is a pile of crap anyway, for my opinion the 6900 it is a daylight robbery,as for the 6800 it is the receiver to have ,if you can find one
you mite ask why i got one 6800 and one 6900 ,well the time i bought the 6900 the shop said they did not have the 6800,as i have two dishes i use one for upstair in my office ,as i like to test many things,so i don't have to go downstairs every time
so if you want spend less money the 6800hd super is the one to have ,if you can find one
well that is my opinion

thanks guys for your input. Although i wasn't concerned about the difference between 6800 and 6900 (i know it's dvbt) as much as between super and non-super versions. I can get non-super for £130 and super for around £200 and am askinging is it worth paying extra for ethernet port and its possibilities.

Like dxman I was obliged to take the 6900 as there weren't 6800's around at the time.
Off the top of my head there are at least 2 other things to think about in the context of the super vs the non-super:
(1) The super has 2 usb connections
(2) Magic updates for the super seem to come out before the non-super

I don't know of anyone thats got cs working satifactorily on the tm6900 hd super but there are regular new patched updates for the box and I suspect it won't be too long before it is sorted. The point is that it is well supported.
The tuner in the Technomate 6900 Super is DVB-T Terrestrial Compliant (MPEG-2 / MPEG-4 / H.264)
576i & 576p, 720p & 1080i supported
Working on RTE (Ireland) MPEG-4 test transmissions.
