Modem help please

have upgraded to an n modem but all is not well (d-link dsl-2740b) i tried before but give up on it but my current modem (dsl-g642m)is now giving me connection problems big style...the dsl-g642m worked fine with the dreambox i connected to 3 servers and them to me,with the new modem i can only connect to one server,put the "old" modem back and all 3 are fine.
i have set the portforwarding on the new modem to as follows
dreambox ip=192.168.*.***
internal port=12000(tcp)
external port=12000(tcp)
internal port=12000(udp)
external port=12000(udp)
i have tried changing the internal port to 16001 but still no joy. info on port forwarding does not really help...i guess it must be the internal port setting..but other than the 16001 as i said i dont know what to set this at..this is doing me head in...any ideas guys?

It could possibly be the firmware of the modem. I know that with my netgear dg834n router, if I have firmware 1.06 installed, all works perfectly fine. If I upgrade to any of the later firmwares, then I have problems with connecting to servers, and with servers connecting to me (i can connect to around 30/45 servers, and only 3 of 45 can connect to me).

sounds possible....thanks for the idea...have actually gone the other way regarding the firmware...i`ve upgraded to the latest version...right....now to find some "old" firmware...will let you know

ok wont allow me to go back any further than 2.51.....downloaded the "factory shipped firmware...1.16" but the file is not a bin file so wont upload to the modem...any suggestions?

tried everything i could..back to factory settings...still no good....I`m using my new o2 box now ...so far so good !! thanks for all the help guys...pity we could not get it working
