Problems flahing image to box.

I've tried flashing using the webinterface but it freezes before it completes. I then tried using Universal DreamUP with a serial cable and network but it freezes also.

This is what's displayed,
21:30:30 box type: DM8000
21:31:38 Calculating checksum...
21:31:39 Uploading file to box...
21:31:58 box is flashing from its memory...
but doesn't complete.

It says on the webinterface that you can boot from a usb or network but I not sure how.

Any help please.

Thanks for the reply, normally I have no problem when flashing a new image having done it many times whilst trying different images. I find the only way to find out how an image performs is to load it to flash.

I've tried again but still cannot get it to finish flashing, it seems to load the file to the box but then cannot flash from memory. Now sometimes having connected to the box with the web interface and started uploading the file it doesn't start flashing and I get the following message-

The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading

I'm using the lastest Firefox and my firewall and real-time scanning are disabled. The box will not boot is there another way to get the box to boot.

Which image are you trying to load and what is the current flash image ?

Have you got USB, CF or HDD in use ?

In flash I've got Dream Elite BH 1.0 and Oozoon in Meoboot.
I've tried to flash Dream Elite, Oozooon, DM cvs & Nab. BH 11.
I have a HDD, and compact flash which I've removed at present to see if it would flash without it.

So are you saying you have a working flash image as you have Dream Elite in the flash ?
Or are you saying you want to replace the flash image with another one and cant ?

The box will not boot therefore I assume I have no working image and I can't flash any image to the box.

You could try.

Boot dreambox with the network cable plugged in and with your finger on the down button (obtain the I.P), Then unplug the dreamboxs network cable and plug a laptop or desktop directly into the dreambox with a fixed I.P address.

Ps also try re downloading the Image as i have had a dodgy image before.

Where is the best place to download the image from? I will try to flash it again tommorow.

If you don't connect your PC/laptop directly to the DM, when you start the upload/flash - your router will re-assign an ip address, so your DM's ip has now changed.
As Quailman said, connect your DM to router, powerup, get ip address, connect PC/laptop direct to DM (ensuring no firewall AND its on same ip range and fixed ip) then everything should be fine

Thank you it's OK now. I used to be able to flash via my LAN before, now I'll have to use my laptop directly connected to my box.
