dvi to pc ???

:respect-023: I have been try to connect dm to tv via dvi to pc input on tv.

i only have an old dvi to rgb pc lead converter and this doesnt work.

i have looked all over for appropiate leads and no joy.

has anyone tryed this method and does anyone know where i can buy leads.

as i need the hdmi inputs for other things on tv

you can buy a dvi to vga adapter on e b*y for 99p , and then use a standard vga to vga lead

I have no idea if this will work from a dreambox , but it definitely works from a pc

obviously there wont be any sound doing it this way , so that would have to be dealt with separately

cheers i would rather buy a straight lead ie dvi to vga i have seen them on e*ay 5.00 .

they look to have the same number of pins as the dvi lead that comes with the dm8000 but i have no idea if they work .

so buy one , try it , report back and we will all learn something new

but this method wont give you any audio so you better look into red and white phono audio to the tv or surround sound or you wont hear a thing

dvi rarely has sound and the dreambox having it over dvi should be considered the exception , not the rule

I have just tested a dvi to vga adapter with a vga to vga lead from a dm800HD and it doesnt work

there are less pins on the adapter than the dm800 dvi to hdmi lead

so I would assume 2 things from this

1) it wont work on a dm8000HD either

2) a dvi to vga lead probably wont work

a hdmi switchbox may be a better bet , or a tv with more hdmi inputs , my sony 40w5500 has 4 hdmi inputs on it , as well as component , composite , twin scarts and vga , so the more the merrier

The Dvi output from my Dm8000 don't output Analog signals.

Maybe the only solution, is component to vga, but the tv imput must accept component signal on the Vga.

i got dvi 2 vga converter then vga to tv works fine in dvi and ypbpr but not pc-setting on dm-800 !
