I have never got my external HDD which is a WD passport essential 320gb unit, working with my azbox premium. I recently updated to KGD 0.4348 as it stated easier HDD use. Still no recording! Someone please, please help me with this basic detail. It has been formatted in linux and FA**2 - both have no positive results. What am i doing wrong? :banghead:

As far as I know the WD passport has no external power supply - right? You should try an active usb hub.

no ext power supply, but this worked fine on my old technomate so why not the azbox??

I haven't tried an usb hdd without external powersupply but read a lot of it in several forums and I think the AZBox can't give enough power to the hdd. You may try an USB cable with two connectors at one side. Plug one connector in the AZBox and the other one in a device which can give power to the hdd.

i could not get my usb stick to work, but got an old usb 30gb flip2disk (toshiba built -amacom make) running at weekend...formatted the drive on laptop to ntfs, then reformatted in azbox to ex**? i think it is. anyhow...when it works correctly the formatting display should go all the way up to 100% and then reboot disc and azbox all on its own...if it finishes at like 63/75 or 95% then not formatted correctly as i experienced. good luck.
ps old uncle argos in uk has 16 day money back guarantee-always worth a visit to check a couple of diffrerent ones out.

thanks gubernator, your advice to get a dual usb lead worked, now got the hdd working with a little help from the trusty old technomate!

EX** format your disk, so you worked all KGD panel applications, and you can record with files over 4GB
