When Freeview HD starts being transmitted, will TVs with built-in Freeview (like my Sony Bravia) be able to cope with the new format? My tv is "HD Ready".
Thank you.

when it starts to watch hd free-view on your TV you will need an external free-view hd box with a hdmi lead from box to tv
as your hd ready TV don't have an hd tuner in it only an analog tuner and a digital tuner neather tuner is hd

the new freeview HD is dvb-T2 so you will definitely need a separate freevierw T2 set top box like the humax

It was on the radio this morning - they were saying most full HD TVs on sale now won't be able to decode the Freeview HD. Looks like I'll not see Freeview HD until my TV breaks and they start selling them with inbuilt HD decoders, because I don't want another box.

About this `ere Freevie HD, instead of yet another stand alone box, couldnt a manufacturer utiise the cam slot on most HD tellies like we would use a Diablo or Dragon?

not for the tuner they couldnt

but there are new tv,s out or due out very soon with built in freeview HD tuners , I think sony and panasonic , possibly others like humax are introducing them , seen a few adverts for them recently anyway

for those of us with standard freeview tuners , a set top box is required

or use something like a HD dreambox like I do

"HD Dreambox" what about a HD Technomate 6900?

any digital satellite HD box should get itvHD , and the others as well

usually it has a banner on it at the moment until they put it out as a proper channel in a month or two ( apart from football )

but for freeview HD you need the new HD tuner tv,s , or a HD set top box

I shall be buying a new TV this year with DVB-T2 Freeview HD built in.

2010 spec models with Freeview HD are just starting to appear in the shops.

I probably will not actually be able to receive Freeview HD until Digital Switch Over in 2011.

The BBC are a public broadcaster and are not allowed by UK law to encrypt their broadcasts. There is speculation that they would like to encrypt the epg but it's doubtful that this will be allowed. They are however allowed to use a form of DRM which would prevent the copying of the program, much like their online iPlayer.

Sony's latest 2010 LCD EX models have freeview HD built in. out now in March. others to follow. TM6900 HD is FreeSAT HD only, no Freeview HD.
