Unlocking an Iphone

Anyone now of a good reliable place that will unlock an iphone from 02 so i can use it on Vodafone.

It depends what sofware your on,if its 3.1.3 then i dont think you can unlock it.

Im on Orange.
Had my i-phone 3GS unlocked by a shop specialising in unlocking.The only problem with the software was that it reset to manufacture default if the i-phone was powered down and needed to be unlocked again.
It had trouble syncing with i-tunes with this unlocking software.
If you get it unlocked make sure the software don't do this
I have to own the phone for 3 months before Orange will unlock it.

You can do it yourself!!

Need to jailbreak it first then you can unlock it- there is a step by step guide on how to do this freely available- just google it!! (jailbreak iphone)

Have done mine and my mrs phone with no problems

They have now fixed the problem you have so u will be ok (dev team)

Steve, this does depend on the baseband version. If your iphone is firmware 3.1.2 or lower then google for blackrain otherwise you need to ring your current provider and pay them :):cool:

This is correct. BUT there is a difference between unlocking and jailbreaking. Currently firmware 3.1.3 or later cannot be jailbroken.

I dont know if you are all aware but unlocking and jailbreaking iphones has become alot easier comex has released its new jailbreak

if you load safari and go to jailbreakme.com it will jailbreak directly through the internet.

if you then load cydia and find ultrasnow and load that it will unlock to any network works even with iphone 4's now :)

02 unlock there iphones for free just call them....and yep you can now jailbreak via safari even on os 4.

4.02 Cant be unlocked yet... but i think there is a way you can go back from 4.02 firm ware to 4.01 then unlock it using jailbreak me :D

You mean jailbreak it first then unlock it...don't get them confused. Jailbreak is one thing (to allow itune to accept non official apps to your phone) and unlock is another thing.

4.2 is about to be out. It’s nothing great for any of us. But it means iTunes will be prompting for an update, which of course you should decline. But the worst part….

Due to traffic reasons, Cydia didnt present the ‘make my life easier’ dialog. So many of you do not have SHSH stored for 4.1 which means once apple releases 4.2, you will never be able to restore 4.1 again
