Hi,

I am thinking of buying the S4000HD especially for the Twin Tuner offering and PIP functionality.

I was wondering if it does support EPG like Sly UK or anything close to it.

And how easy is it to upgrade the internal HDD?

HDD upgrade simple - just open and replace - there may be some preferred drives.

There's an EPG of sorts but nothing like as good as Sky's custom one.

How does the PIP functionality work??

And is the Blindscan software or hardware blindscan?

PIP is actually pretty nice and works well. Hit PiP button to get up small screen which can be positioned in 4 corners. Hit switch to toggle as main or side by side or back in corner. There's a PiP service select to select channel there based on your tuner setup/current mux.

Not sure about the blindscan.

Yeah, I set up a blindscan across all sats, it had been going for about 10 hours when I stopped it because I actually wanted to watch some TV. :)

The S4000 has a standard 3.5" HDD mounting and I've been told it can handle up to 4 Tb.
A Hitachi 1 Tb caused my S4000 to lock up after about an hours use so I changed to a WD AV 500Gb. The recommended drive is a WD green it seems but my WD AV seems to be OK.
A 2.5" HDD should work fine except you will have to adapt the mounting to make it fit in the 3.5" mounting.

I'm using the 320GB stock drive but if I was adding one the WD Green would be my preference - so good to know it's compatible.
