they really do need to sort out the freezing issue in menus after recording, or after box has been on for a while.

its really starting to pee me off now.

I have that. Not so much after the latest firmware update.

I get it a lot when trying to sort out channel lists etc , move , delete , the menus suddenly go slow or freeze , and takes a while before you can go any further with them

I suspoect this is a problem in the actual firmware

I don't get this problem, but my box is in the open and well ventilated. Could your boxes be running warm maybe? Just a thought.

I have noticed mine gets pretty warm if left on all day and sometimes freezes when zipping through menus or deleting channels at speed. It has been better recently and I have took to switching the box off when not being used.

i came back today after 5 days away in Ireland, it had successfully recorded all sorts of programs from various satellites, after checking they recorded ok and played a few mins of each one back, guess what - HANG!!!!! SWITCH OFF and ON again jobbie.

mine is well ventilated while I am testing it , and is always switched off overnight , and the quick keypresses etc when using the menus can cause the freezing or hanging , and if there are hundreds of channels on a satellite can be worse than when dealing with a smaller number like on say 9 east

this can happen if using it within a few minutes of switch on , when its cold or barely warm , and seems more to do with the rapid use of the remote as well

its probably an os bug imho , but when it works properly its superfast

Good news for you guys. Latest Octagon firmware has

"- STB dead issue by long time watching : fix"

You'll only have to put up with this for a while.

[Edit] Cold as Ice has already posted the firmware upgrade. :)

I dont see this in the ICECRYPT new release.... ???

I loaded in the new release today , and then had a good go at the channel list by looking at different sats , scanning them , and moving channels around in each sat list

I also added channels on 28e into the favs as well , and created some new favs as well as using sports etc

not once did I get a slow down or a freeze , and I must say that of all the plugins the xcam one seems to hold up the best for C and N lines

I would assume there are better things ahead on this box`s firmware and plugins , and the new loader by kinkdink work very well , but I was really impresssed today at how it handled itself after the new firmware was loaded and it rebooted to lock it in

still unsure as to how to invoke tuner 2 as yet , or timed recording , but I will get around to them as well

divx and mp3 playback are on the whole very good too , but when tested the other day some didnt play properly or at all

and it didnt play mkv , mov or mpg files either

seems an excellent box though

glad to hear about the non lock up issue, i too, installed the new f/w yesterday, and havent had a lock up yet, but i must admit i havent played around too much.

do you factory reset after a f/w update?

the box will load the firmware and reboot and load it in , afterwards you will see it come up with your stick in an onscreen loader menu , and will show the box and stick firmware have the same number

any channel list etc seems unaffected by this , but I back it up anyway before updating

so no , I havent done a factory reset afterwards , as it seems fine after its finished rebooting
