View Full Version : DM800 Clone, VU+Duo or other?

Decided the AZBox is going to go, just not sure what to replace it with?

Read that the VU+Duo might have trouble with cccam in the future which is making me a bit wary.

And it seems a bit of a lottery what quality DM800 clone I would get.

All I want is for it to be stable with cccam, not bothered about the media side of things, as I have PCH for that.

Cheers

For stable CCcam then you can count out Azbox, then you have DM800 or Vu+ to choose from in your list.

I have no experience of DM800 or Vu+ so i can't recommend any of them but according to the forums Vu+ is the way to go as you get so much more for your money as twin tuner etc...

Fist Azbox and VU+ are good boxes...only Vu+ is Enigma 2 mean Server and clinet...

I do not recommender Dm 800 Copy...a lot of ****s from china..in alibaba for very cheap......But cheap some time will be a problem..

I can understudy if Any dealer deal big quantity with good manufacture in China ,but buying product from Cowboys they buy 5-10 pz to any please in china that is a big risk.

From three boxes i will recombined Azbox and Vu+.

Check both boxes are supported from Sponsor check to Goldwafers.com

I am actually looking to get rid of the AZBox for another box.

But thanks anyway :)

Azbox Premium+ is the best box out there at the moment for the money.

It's not an easy choice, all of these boxes seem to have their problems... In the end, I just went for a clone DM800 bl75 because of the support, and so far I haven't regretted it.

There's a lot to learn about these boxes, and I have had much scratching of head - but once you get it all working how you like it, they are a very powerful little machine. ;)

Hi, do you have problems with **** sports HD channels breaking up ? I've had my clone about a week and this is the only problem I have. Great little box otherwise.

HD channels breaking up could be a tuner issue, easily fixed with a line amp close to the lnb, a common problem with 800 clones.

Had my cheap as chips Chinese DM800 clone for over 6 months, and it was a blindingly good buy...

Cost £*** delivered, arrived in 3 days, no serious problems with it whatsoever. Sure you take a risk, but as Delboy would say, who dares, wins :)

Check out ***** dot com for unbiased info on clones...

BTW: I'm getting a sample of the Ferrarisimcard soon, which supposedly bypasses the DM sim card security ;)

can you tell me me what the Ferrarisimcard is i've not seen a reference to it before

To be honest I don't know a great deal about it other than it is a reprogrammable sim which allows you to run (patched) images with the latest drivers, and it can be updated each time there is a new bootloader...

For anyone with a clone, it sounds like a winner. Reports I've read say it's working, although as yet not a finished product. A guy with a BL72 DM used it and saw a big improvement (DVB subtitles now working, faster zapping, better graphics etc...)

Once I have mine, I'll post more info.

Sorry for the posting, no different to other posts in the past, but I guess we should be grateful for Lee's support, and encourage dudez to use his service.

The website link was not a vendor's site, but a discussion board, one that has been mentioned previously, which is why I didn't think it a problem. Similarly the price I paid was also in a previous thread.

Unlike some others, I have never posted here for personal gain, and I have always supported the board financially, so my conscience is clear... :respect-013:

VU + Due currently being tested and so far very impressed.

DM500HD in the box waiting for testing. ( I think this one may surprise us all ) ;)

No LCD display though, which I know I would miss, else think this would be a good option.

Only thing worrying me on the 800 Clone is the glitching on the Sly HD channels, as don't want to have to mess about fitting an inline amp. Where would the amp need to be put, could I put it near to the box, or do I have to put it near the LNB?

Cheers

LCD display is no loss, without my glasses it is no use to me :smilielol5:

Inline amp should be as close to the lnb as you can get, but should still work if roughly less than 50% of the way along the cable if access is a problem.

If you buy a clones today, this shouldn't be a problem as the issue has been fixed by the manufacturers - only 3 of them I believe. A change to the tuner module was necessary and will have been done already if you pick a reputable (!) clone vendor.

DM500HD really is a great box ( maybe better than 800 which I love )
1 card reader NO PROBLEM
External HDD NO PROBLEM
Fast YES
Picture via HDMI Great.
CCcam working 100%
The next week or so will be the test but for me this is a great box.

Yep, you have me thinking I don't actually need any lcd/vfd display.

Also I have a Readynas, so would I be able to record to this over my wired network?

Not fussed about dual tuner, so this would not be a prob and also this would presumably bring the VU+Solo into the equation?

How is support coming along for the 500HD as I don't see much info about in on various forums?

Cheers

I am running Dream Elite on my 500HD and like all Dream Elite images it is great;)
It is still very early but all the teams will have images for it very soon.

And yes you can record over your network with the 500HD, I have not tested but have read that it works better than the 800 because the processor is that much better.

Looking forward to your full test results on the DM500HD and a comparison between the 500HD and the Vu+ Duo would also be very helpful ( ignoring the fact that the VU+ has 2 tuners of course)

Thanks

The truth is they are both great box's and you can not compare them.

They are just so far apart in what they offer, you have to look at what your needs are and which box suits them.

If I did not need a twin tuner, multiboot, multiple cam and card slots I would say the 500HD is probably the best of the 3 HD box's I own.

That said it would not satisfy all of my needs so if it was my only box it would not be enough.
+ side is better build quality over the 800HD and the fan also helps.

If the 800 had the fan and better processor then it would be perfect.

The VU + Duo for me is an affordable HD version of the 7025, it does all it says it will and has a very good picture.
I have tested on plasma and Lcd and there really is nothing between any of the box's in HD.

For me the 800 is probably the best SD of the three but it has had longer to get the drivers working well and get the picture right.

I have not tested extensively but after a few days these are my opinions but I very much doubt they will be the same as others. :p

Ok, I have narrowed it down to either the 500HD or VU+Duo or Solo (whichever is available).

I am thinking for the extra £84 I could go for the VU+duo as this would seem to offer a bit more, even though I am not sure I would need the twin tuner, but it is there if required.

Last question, I would want to record to a drive in my Nas, would the VU+duo do this ok?

Cheers

Hopefully someone can answer as I had only tested esata on Vu + Duo and the 500HD.

I can not see a problem but I think the 500HD would work better as the processor helps with its performance.

It seem to respond on my local network better than the other box's

Hi!

I own a VU+ Duo and I had a DM500HD from a friend for testing.
Recording over network to NAS is not a problem at all with both boxes!

But I have to tell you, that DM500HD is too expensive!! And, VU+ has better reaction on remote control, so that it is bit faster than DM500HD. If the DM500HD would cost 250 Euro and you wouldn't need Twin Tuner, I could tell you for sure to buy DM500HD.

VU+ Duo is a bit more expensive, but you get a 80% DM8000!! And those rumours that ccc won't run in the future, are all more than sad and not true, i think. Even if it's true, think about oscam as cccam-client. It will run on almost all platforms without any limitation!

That is making me think multicas for azbox! Hope I am wrong if it ever comes that ccc will not run on the Vu. Or it oscam different to multicas situation? Just thinking worst possibilities for future.
