installing usb hdd

how do you install an external 500gb usb hdd drive i can't get the db800 to see it

the link is no help i read through it but still no luck. The light on the hdd caddy flashes, and when i go to the db menu and settings etc... the usb 1 port is not shown i have a fan cooler in one and an internal hdd

the fan cooler works in both usb ports

Have you gone to the menu -> setup -> harddisk -> initialisation. If the box can see the hdd, it will appear in here...

it can see the internal harddisk here but not the external usb hdd
