Hi
I have not used my 1500ci in a while but when I try and use the darkmanloader it seems it cannot detect it, ive tried different computers and different null leads but still no joy. Anyone know what I can do? a system reset or something?
thanks.

you can maybbe try a forced d/load i found this info :
FORCED DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS by Compass ,
these general instructions can also be used on the 5000 and 6000 range of technomates as well as the 1000 range
just make sure you use the correct latest working patch for your model number
and also make sure you are using darkman loader v1.87 and not an older loader
turn the receiver off at the rear mains switch and re-load the v2.77p patch from 15/08/08 ( or the latest working patch ) , or use the technomate v1.82 firmware if necessary
and when the darkman v1.87 loader asks connect to receiver turn it back on at the rear
turning the receiver on at the rear will force the download and clear the problem caused by any incomplete or faulty patches
after it has completed , reboot the box by turning it off and on again at the rear mains switch ( power cycle the box )
the box should boot and work normally
sometimes you may have to remove the lnb cable when the box is off , just to stop it looking for channels , reconnect this after the box has been restored but turn it off beforehand
now switch it back on and test

thanks but I have just tried this and it still says 'connect your receiver and turn it on'
try the loader from technomate website for that receiver!
If you're running a windows higher then XP, see if you can find a XP live cd for it try it on that?
use a serial comport 1 and change the port settings to:
Bits/second: 9600
data bits: 8
Parity: none
stop bit: 1
data transport: none

Hi
I have the same problem as Cookus. I am using a tm5500ci.Ihave tried all the above but no joy,my computer is using XP, my comport 1 settings same as Giga, the null modem cable is the one I use on a Humax 5400 (have tried 3 different ones). I am using Darkman loader V 1.87 and patch 5400ci_5600ci_176p_ from 24/03/2010. Would appreciate any help

the error message occurs when the pc and the technomate do not connect , in other words they do not handshake over the crossover cable
you would get the same message if you had no cable at all
this is nearly always a pc problem , usually the com port has a problem
I have never heard of a technomate having a problem in this rs232c area , nor any other box
so fix the pc problems and it will connect

Thanks Echelon for your speedy reply
When I enter the Device manager in my computer and check com port 1 it says the device (com port 1 ) is working properly.I have no problem patching my humax 5400 so is it possible there's a fault in the rs232 socket?? and is there another way to check my computer (dell demension 5000)

if it works with the humax then it seems the port is ok
is that lead you are using a proper null modem cable ( a crossover cable ) ?
9 pin female to 9 pin female
or its a straight wired cable , 9 pin male to 9 pin female ?

it's a crossover, pin 5 to 5, 2 to 3 and 3 to 2

limerick
in that case the lead is correct
and if it programs the humax ok , then the pc and port are also ok , plus the cable as well seeing as its ok with the hummy
therefore that would tend to suggest its the technomate at fault
ideally you should test a different pc running xp , for comparison

It looks like you need to update your net-frame update from v1.1 to v 2.0, I had this and the update cured all.
I got it here.

at the moment the programs I have are Microsoft.net framework 2.0 service pack 2, framework 3.0 service pack 2, framework 3.5 sp1 All this means nothing to me
limerick
switch off technomate and computer, connect short null modem cable (+- 1 meter) to both
switch on TM, switch on computer
you can test your null modem cable with this:
https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=110802 see if you can download the channellist
are you using a real comport or USB to serial? try real comport. did you lower the connection speed of the serial port on your computer?
not much feedback from you? did you try the official TM loader?

Giga
the comport settings are the same as you posted,i'm using null modem cable rs232 to rs 232 not usb.A friend brought his tm6800 hd box this evening and my computer detected his box straight away (Found stb at com 1 verrion 6.90 detected)we were using the same loader same null modem cable.IT LOOKS AS IF MY PROBLEM IS THE RS232??.so where do I go from here?
Thanks to all for your help
limerick
try this loader?
http://www.technomate.com/download/TM-Loader%20For%20TM-1000-5000-6000%20Series.zip
What happens when you start up TM with powerswitch while pressing menu button on front panel?
leave the loader program on after first time, wait some time, swith off Technomate wait second switch on again, use auto detect if receiver found start download could be possible you need to try this several times.
Try an older computer (slower) ,with xp, start up as administrator, could be a timing issue?
if that did not work try this loader:
ONLY USE FIRMWARE part here, stay away from TPS
If all this fails: RS232 port failed on your receiver: contact TM or your dealer and see if it is wise (cost) to have this repaired? Or if you have a friend who is good in electronics?

I have an oldish desktop running under XP which uses Darkman loader perfectly for my TM6900HD Super - but I normally use a memory stick nowadays!:respect-057:
yeah that box has USB port? put the firmware unpacked on a fa**2 formatted USB stick, put the stick on the Technomate and try to load from the USB menu?
last chance: USB stick on TM and power up (power switch) Technomate while pressing menu on front panel and see if you can load firmware from there.
Use original firmware from technomate for that receiver?

Ithink i'll forget about the tm5500 and buy a TM5400 super ci+usb pvr receiver.I see two of them on **** for £77 but one is called a multi cam receiver. Are they the same and just advertised differently and are they a good receiver
limerick
Check for missing, bent pins on your receiver.Uninstall the loader completely. Then do a new download of the loader. If all is Ok with the Pins and the cable is OK too ,make sure if you can check that the memory is not full or other cables are not conected to the receiver,or that the cable is not too long. Now try a Auto find with the loader.

Hi Slap
The pins are ok I have downloaded a new loader and my cable is about a meter long.I don't know what you mean by the checking the memory, how do I check it and erase it if it is full

leave 24 hours of power, leads disconnected. Then just connect with computer and try procedure again. Try other computer older then yours: before you say goodbye to that receiver!
had at one time the same issue with a TM6900HDSuper, would no longer work on the com1 took it to the dealer, and it did work there, never had problems anymore with that.

It was disconnected since yesterday so I connected it again but still wont work,my computer is over five years old and I won't be able to lay my hand's on a older one.my com port setting's are the same as you suggested and I was able to connect to a tm6800 using all the same equipment. What are your view's on tm 5400ci super+usb?
Thank's for all your help

Limerick are you sure you canpatch your 5500?
NO I just took it for granted it could be done and no one has suggested otherwise. You may be right??
limerick
limerick,
My post was for the thread starter.
Your receiver "may" need a different loader as not all the 5000 series use the same loader.
Some of the older TM receiver could be a clone of a Next receiver.
So Next/TM may be an area to look into for a loader.
Check the TM 5000 series to see if your receiver is mentioned.

Hi
Im sorry for not replying sooner, I had to leave the house where the receiver was and hence didnt get to resolve the problem. I am going bk there later though today so hopefully i can have a good crack at it. Is the football still showing on 1w? or would I be better of going to hotbird or bulsat? for it?
cheers.

no , you wont get digi tv on 1w anymore
you can try bulsat , or possibly hotbird , but not a lot open with a patch and tmsoftcam now , apart from bulsat on 39e
bulsat currently closed: unknown key except for diablo

I would say its very unlikely with the patches now , but you can check the cam and key sections and see what the softcams will open
most of us have moved onto other methods and other boxes now , like dream and spider etc ( and cs )
my tm1500 is lying idle for the first time in a few years , disconnected and all forlorn in the corner with its remote and instruction manual ;)

Would going down this route be a bit of a mission? ie alot of time and money devoted on it?
would the techomate 6800 hd do the same thing?

all the old boxes are suffering the same fates m8 , including the tm 1000 , 5000 and 6000 ranges , which are good boxes for what they do but that isnt as much as they used to be capable of , so ok for freesat and maybe bulsat or some biss channels etc , so the 600 would give you a few HD channels as well as the SD ones still available to you
and the linux boxes like dreambox or say a vu+ require more work and better maintainence etc
this is why boxes like the spider box are making their impression , due to their "gift" abilities
put on paper what you want. No warranty terms on bypassing encryptions: it works to today, maybe tomorrow. If Darkvader has an accident a lot of s***** owners will be very unhappy. Make up your own mind what money you want to spend and what box you want to purchase.
