Hi,
with interest Iīve read the articles here on the Spiderbox 9000HD.
2 questions remain:
1. as I donīt want a Lan cable running through my living room
is it possible to connect this box using Wlan (Wlan USB-Stick)??
2. what happens after 12 m. - will a renewal be offered??
3. are the currently open Viasat chls on 4.8E open (DR,SVT,NRK)

Hi ceyer
can help with 2 questions the box needs an IP address
so Wlan is no good but home plugs/ spider plugs work ok
no need for wires
After 12 months no one has any idea what will be going
on in this hobbie so there is no way to answer this question
only way to get renewal is to buy a sub and pay every month

If there is an ethernet socket then you could use a wireless bridge (mine is netgear wge111). These are commonly sold for xbox's to allow wireless connection to the internet. I have one working with my tm6900hd and in principle there is no reason it shouldnt work for any stb(or other network device).
Regarding the renewal - I saw a post replied to by darkman (sorry I can't quote because its buried somewhere on the forum) where he intimated the renewal would be roughly 30% of the cost of the stb.(this was my interpretation of the posting anyway).
@DARKMAN - Can you confirm this please
However, don't forget once you've splashed out on the box they have you over a barrel. Maybe you could get DM to say more than 'don't worry' and see if you can get him to confirm whether it will be roughly 30% of the cost of the stb (and if it will be 30% of the cost of the 7000 or the 9000).

It is a confusing answer. You can connect the stb to a wireless lan using a wireless bridge. they cost about Ģ40 new but I got one second hand off fleabay for Ģ15. Mine is a netgear wge111 but there are belkin wireless game adaptors on amazon for Ģ30 new and Ģ20 2nd hand.
A wireless usb lan adaptor won't work because you need drivers for this and you wouldn't be able to install them on the stb. a wireless bridge once setup is a standalone device.

Sorry the spider plugs / home plugs just plug into a standard
3 pin uk socket one goes at the router one at the stb
gives an lan input and output through you standard 230volt
ring circuit do a search if Goldwafers do not sell them at present
