saving s/w and gift to usb ?

I saw a post yesterday where you can do this in case your box comes to grief so you can re-load it, has anyone done this ? if so how please.

I thought this was an excellent question and hopefully somebody can give a definitive answer to it

ie:- before messing with the box is it possible to save to a usb stick so that in the event of messing up the box it can easily be restored from the backup ?

If you choose USB from the main menu a number of options will appear at the bottom of the window. One of these options is the green button 'save data'.
When you press this green button option you will see 2 back-up options appear, channel data and s/w data. Choose the latter.
I haven't done this myself but this is how it should work!

I did exactly that, but dont have the nerve to test it works.

I've saved it to my pc in case it does.

obviously you wouldnt know its worked until you bit the bullet and tried it , or needed it to work

but better to do it than not do it
