Help with froze non Super 6800 HD

My mate has humped his non Super 6800 HD by installing the Magicpatch 691 from 05-03-10, he was wanting the CI+ support so any ho, He says the 6800 read it fine but froze up on the "write" part, and now when he switches it on there is no vid or audio via the HDMI & the "Technomate" welcome on the VDU just stays there. Is there any way he can try to recover it other than the null modem serial port way?

I actually had just read this, seem's like you still need some video output to be able to recover via USB.

there is no CI+ support: CI is not compatible with CI+: different hardware! if HD+ is reference to card+ s£Y (uk) this would be box key support?
For HD+ (Astra) you would need a CI common interface that has HD+ capabilities:

Thanks Giga for the clarification. Sometimes I wonder how certain people think that a certain patch can do something when the required feature has never been mentioned! Same thing with people who thought that latest patches can open Bulsat.

Does happen to everyone I guess, the mind plays tricks, I call it wish full reading: you see some words and think that it reads like that. If you then careful re-read you find out it is not there at all, what you thought you was reading.
