Hopefully you have 5 year warranty?

I wouldn't buy an expensive plasma or LCD without it.

I've seen a few on eabay with similar flashing led's fault for less than £200

look up the panosonic plasma error codes, the led's flash in a perticlar sequence to indicate what fault is the cause of not starting.

Check your remote batteries in case they are flat, use the front panel buttons to start to rule out a remote prob.

Goodluck with sorting it out, I got the John Lewis 5 year guarantee for the same price as most other mail order suppliers, they allready sent me a replacement remote when the first one packed up.

The sound on the panny is not so hot, the freeview tuner is pretty poor as well.

Pannys seem to be having lots of issues if you read AVForums...that's why I bought a 50inch LG plasma. :D

I looked at the Sony HX703 which has great HD picture, but it's very expensive and can't beat a Plasma for normal SD picture quality.

Whats the matter with your Freeview tuner Tony mate - also the sound - mines fine so far, as is everything else - its BRILLIANT, is my WiFi set up Pannie - and I've had both Sony Bravos AND Pannies this past 10 years or so - and in MY opinion Pannies are second to none, especially after Pioneer packed it in!
As far as I know Panasonic are actually now turning out their plasmas to Pioneer specification etc!
So plese dont call Pannies when many of us are MEGA satisfied with them mate!
Its all a matter of opinion at end of day, so we are all entitled to that?:respect-055:

I've got a couple of mates with same panny tv as myself, we are all in agreement that they are not as good as they should be.

As for the sound (noise) its disgracefull, a £250 cheaper Samsung has much more controls for adjustment, it even has a small EQ as well so you can get it to sound the way you like.

Picture geometry control on the panny is also very poor, the broadcasters are all all over the place with picture size, the panny cant deal with 21:9 without chopping something off.

There not the worst tv but I wouldn't recomend one !

I won't be buying another one either . Panasonic Spain didn't even bother replying to my letter that I sent them a few months ago . When mine eventually dies I'll be looking elsewhere for a replacement .

Well Rabby, I got my 46 just after yours and everything has been fine so far and i got the free 5 year panny warranty. The reason I went for it apart from freesat tuner (at the time freeview signal round here was u/s) was my 20 month old (£1700) Sony kdl40 had packed up. I got it fixed eventually but now it's in the back room as the picture just doesn't compare. So I guess it's the luck of the draw and partly down to manufacturers wanting us to change every few years.

Seems to be a Common Fault in the Panasonic ? The part to sort it is ment to be very cheap ? But for a panny Engineer to sort the problem is ment to be Expencive [ It is ment to be like a spark plug in a car ] The Igniter when you switch on :smash:

Any Way ?? Just Bought a [ LG 42LD450 42 in. LCD TV ] For a Quike Replacement ?? Picture Quality is super , Far better than the Panny was!!!!:) Sits Nice Beside my 42 "sony:respect-067:

Now Going to do a Insurance claim on my Panny [ Make sure it will not work AGAIN ] LOL ? Do not want it FIXED:D

Well I'm backing out of this 'discussion' because it seems to me there are only the 'slaggers' of Panasonic on here, when as I tried to say in my last post 'I am giving MY opinion here that Panasonics are second to none' - and can only assume the other 'supporters' are keeping a low profile here by keeping their noses out as MOST (i.e. the majority of people) simply dont really need to get involved with a few MEGA unfortunate people on here who are sounding off about their misfortunes and bad experiences, which surely happen in ANY branch of consumer experiences in any case?
In conclusion:
I am truly sorry about those with bad experiences, but I assure you that you are in the MINORITY here - in the big picture that is!

Holmdale I think that you should show some more respect to newbies and other when you refer to sluggers of Panasonic
(That involves everybody who made comment)

We all know that the minority you are saying are in position to make changes in this cruel world and they are people who are making points to this forum and just, just maybe help each other or something .
As far as the unfortunate you should not worry at all ,reason is that we are the one with more experience than any other had and as for Panasonic it is your choice and only yours no one else’s, I will not force you to get any or chose any 100000% ,we can only advice you and tell you ( oh am sorry i forgot that your smart ) our views and experiences we had .......people like us open things before we actually connect to TV .

and i wish to..

Thank you for not needed reply

I wasnt really having a mega 'go' at the SLAGGERS (not 'sluggers') of Panasonics mate, just giving the 'other' side of the discussion from those who ARE more than satisfied with their TV's, rather than getting drawn into the experiences of the unfortunate few who ARENT very happy with Panasonic - but sincerely I am sorry if any offence was caused, it certainly wasnt meant to be taken that way - just thought it was necessary to give the 'pro' viewpoint!
So apologies to both 'newbies' AND 'oldies' if I've upset you with MY side of all this!:iamwithstupid:

I have always been a supporter of Panasonic until my three year old 42" plasma went **** up recently. Quotes for repair £210 labour and £240 for a new power board "but we dont know when we will be able to get a power board". Panasonic are not at all interested in customer support.

I have switched to Samsung which is not to the same quality build but the picture, sound and control is every bit as good as Panasonic and that is what matters.

I advise the reading of tests carried out on specialty sites, for example:

h**p://flatpanelshd.com/

h**p://www.avforums.com/reviews/index.php

the Panasonic plasmas are the best at the moment.

Hear hear mate - but of COURSE everyone has their own experiences, both good and bad - but all I am saying is that I've had at least 5 Pannies this past 20 years (had just one Sony bravo 5 years ago which was great too) - and they've all been BRILL, with none of the problems highlighted by the unfortunate few contributing to this very interesting thread!:respect-067::respect-055:

Thanks for the reply grepi. I dont have any problem with replacing a circuit board, or even modifying a board. I used to work on televisions as a hobby when it was possible to replace actual components. These days you need a microscope to even see the components . ;)

My problem is to actually get a board from Panasonic. The board is a TNPA4221-1-AE

AVforums are always biased towards Panasonic.

Many professional reviews are biased as they get paid to write good things.

I have had a panasonic plasma for the last 6 months and have been very happy with it and have had no issues with it. I sold the sony I had before it as I got fed up of the number of pixels out. I know 5 people with panasonic panels and they have not had any problems with them. Its just the luck of the draw.

ssjenkins

"Luck of the draw" in the 21st century shouldn't come into it . The screen on my 42" is on it's way out after 28 months . It cost me €1400 when I bought it . That equates to around €46/month . Not exactly value for money ?

These displays of all makes probably come from china, I suspect they make them in very large batches and then move on to manufacture other bits of kit.

This means that every batch is slightly differant from the last one when they resume production for the big japanese or western companies, virtually everything I buy these days wether it be clothes electronics or sports equipment comes from this sinister country.

Its western greed for the low wage and production costs that has delivered the majority of the world industrial production to china, when they start producing our weapons tanks and fighter aircraft we will have cause to worry about the communist regime in china !

About a month ago got a 42'' plasma TX-P42G20B must say well pleased, besides being freeview HD its also freesat HD so it got me thinking. Moved my dish to eurobird 9 tuned in to disney channel and it was scambled, in the ci slot I put my diablo and disney opened was able to go into cam menu and change the settings.

Now thats a Panasonic
