I've an idea which may fix some of the freezes occurred during downloading (ie transmission), recording TV or performing large file operations (compressing, moving or copying files). If you want to test, just PM me and then I'll send a very simple script (probably 3-5 lines of code). If my theory succeeds, I'll integrate this in Priority Manager v1.4.

But do not expect too much, this is currently just a theory and even a success rate near 30% will be a good development.

I have no problem with FTP, neither. But there were people reporting having freezes with transmission. Where are they ? :)

i get freezez on my box m8 when i press ok to bring up the channel lists or epg things like that i thought it was something to do with the multicas i'll test 4 u

Hmm,

Unfortunately I don't think my idea helps to reduce TV mode freezes, it may help only downloads or large file operations. So I need testers having these type of freezes/lock ups with transmission, amule etc.

Personally I'm having TV mode freezes in last 2-3 firmwares, too. I reported this but my message is not approved yet. May be you should report these problems by replying my message there. You'll be able to access my below message when it's approved.

Firmware: up to 0.9.4890 - 0.9.4923
Receiver/Serial: AZbox Premium HD
Tuner: DVB-S, DVB-T
Module: TV Module
Plugins installed: OpenXCAS

Not all the time, but this occurs randomly everyday, in every TV watchin session. When this problem occurs channel switching becomes nightmare. Only solution that I found is reboot. I'm suspecting that this is related with latest EPG related fixes, may be it's downloading EPG data from satellites without any limit of using CPU? Here is the sample output of tops command:

CPU usage oscillate between 60-85 % and if you wait enough it goes back to a stabile 10-30% and problem goes. But this takes 5-10 minutes, so I cannot wait so long and usually reboot.

I'm watching 7E and 42E which have lots of EPG data. Now I'm pretty sure that this is really related with populating EPG data. I added this note to my message as a reply. Now both are waiting moderator approval.

I have no problem on dutch sat provider, EPG is DVB-EIT 7 days

No slow menu or freezes

Only installed Multicas and dvb4all plugin nothing else

I have noticed similar effects, but:

For me only when watching BBC HD, with DVB subtitles.

When I set Teletext subtitles, I have no problem.

Apart from that freeze, which is easily solvable, I get no freezes when watching TV on 19.2, 23.5 (Belgian and Dutch channels) and 28.2 (BBC's, ITV's, Channel4, E4, More4, Film4)
