if anyone knows ho to help me pls answer :)
guys every time i watch a divx/xvid in my dm500 with VLC plug in image gets cut on the sides.
is this because of resolution?
i want to use 720x576 (full pal SD) (will this fix my problems? )
but it only shows 704x576 in dreambox ip menu, if i change it manually via ftp will it work at 720x576?
how do i stretch image so it doesn't get the sides cut?
please help, that's the only problem i get in this plug ins. most of the movies seem like it has zoom function activated :(
this is where you set your resolution ect.
this file is located in /var/tuxbox/config.here is mine as an example.Ian.

i used 720x576 in .avi but no luck

This has nothing to do with the resolution that goes in the xml not sure which plugin your using but 704x576 is the highest resolution you can use put 720x576 in the xml and it will still come out 704x576 I had to edit the actual plugin to get it to support 720x576
Assuming nothing else is going on this problem will be down to the sout trancode options in vlc, I haven't used this in a long time and at the moment don't have my box running but I still have the shortcuts I used in for vlc
Is your TV 4.3 or 16.9 widescreen in any case try the following in your shortcut you use to start vlc
4.3 screen
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --intf wxwin --extraintf=http --file-caching=800 --sout-transcode-fps=23.976000 --sout-transcode-canvas-width=720 --sout-transcode-canvas-height=576 --sout-transcode-canvas-aspect=4:3
16.9 screen
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --intf wxwin --extraintf=http --file-caching=800 --sout-transcode-fps=23.976000 --sout-transcode-canvas-width=720 --sout-transcode-canvas-height=576 --sout-transcode-canvas-aspect=16:9
You might have to change a few things like the path if its different from mine you also might have to change 720 to 704 but try it first also I've set fps to fps=23.976000 but you can put fps=25.000000, I used these with vlc 0.8.6d so not sure if it will work with newer versions if it doesn't your have to do it from vlc preferences

thank you very much for your quick answer, i have latest version and when i run the shortcut with your settings it says there's something wrong with the command line.
i'm gonna try your version now
vlc 0.8.6d
edit: you're right with vlc 0.8.6d works just perfect!!! :)
now i just need subtitles a little smaller and i want to ask you something.
will that FPS you use be desynchronized with subtitles after, if movie is 25 fps?
also, what does this field means:
file-caching=800
where do i setup bitrate? audio and video?
in dreambox ip page stil?
another question is it possible to use auto resolution? but allways 16:9 ?
i want allways to use original resolution from the .avi is it possible? thank you very much in advance :)
with your help now i manage NOT to buy a mediaplay for my room. :)

You don't need to edit anything for that just using the below code should work
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --intf wxwin --extraintf=http --file-caching=800 --sout-transcode-fps=23.976000 --sout-transcode-canvas-width=704 --sout-transcode-canvas-height=576 --sout-transcode-canvas-aspect=16:9
All those options are available in preferences as well I just did it that way as I had different short cuts doing different things
