Guys have any of you got a smargo working with CCcam and the VU+Duo ?

I have my smargo sat here doing nothing so want to try it with my 0963 card but don't want to spend hours trying if its not going to work.

I am running PLi.

Cheers

You need to put:
SERIAL READER : /dev/ttyUSB0 ( or UBS1 depending top or bottom back usb slot )
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQENCY : /dev/ttyUSB0 3750000 (or what ever mhz for your card)
I am using my smargo's for XXX cards and receiver top slot for Canal+

don't upgrade smargo cardreader+ above linux en windows firmware V1.3: the V1.4 was retracted from the official website.

I don't use Pli Keano but can you tell me what build the image is based on ?

OE 1.5 OR oe 1.6 ?

It makes a difference on the DEV path.

when you reboot the box, with a disconnected smargo. I all is running, can you issue a dmesg command? insert cardreader+, wait approx. 20 seconds and issue dmesg command again.
It should show somewhere it found the smargo:

[ 10.462931] usbserial: USB Serial support registered for FTDI USB Serial Device
[ 10.463111] ftdi_sio 1-2.4.2:1.0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected

Knew I should have never have started this, 5 hours later and still messing.

The problem I think I have is that this morning I updated to 1.04 and aftering reading on the net this is bad. I have managed to trick the smargo and send it back to 1.03 but still having problems.

I can get a seca ( old cyfra ) card to be seen but not 0963 or 0961. I just keep getting card detect fail.

I have ordered another smargo to see if that works.

m8 I will try dream elite image tomorrow but I don't think it will work.

I have set smargo to dreambox using windows xp and doing dmesg sees the smargo on usb0.

It just wont see uk card.

cfg:
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY : /dev/ttyUSB1 6000000 without this line card reader does not find that card! Important: don't put any other cards in that smargo on that USB port: could fry other cards that do not work at that frequency!

my solution: have several smargos and an USB hub (Tower model, flat one does not take smargo in every USB port, smargo to wide) and marked the usb port 1 and smargo that goes in there with red electric isolation tape to remind me of that danger! It is only for that 963 card.

BOXKEY: /dev/ttyUSB1 00 00 00 00

with cccam 2.1.4 in debug mode and only that card in:
06:10:39.375 CCcam: /dev/ttyUSB1 configured clock frequency: 6000000 Hz
06:10:39.646 CCcam: nds card found(new type)
06:10:39.851 CCcam: nds: using boxkey 00000000
06:10:40.128 CCcam: card added to broker with caid 963

if a card is without a signal for 4 weeks, it needs reactivation, probably in an original box, if unlucky, it needs the box where it was activated in. Cannot confirm this yet! Waiting for original box to arrive here.

if it shows card then probably card reader is OK

You need to read the whole thread.

Dream Elite uses OE 1.5 on the Vu + Duo so smargo needs to be set to dreambox mode and the DEV path is tts not tty

Follow the link I posted for Keano

I have to agree that is works so it would suggest that it also depends on what firmware you have on your smargo.

I have one with 1.04 and the other with 1.03.

The one with 1.04 is on the VU and ok and the other is on the 800 and working.

Looks like a lot of this comes down to trial and error.

@ sonic

all my smartgo,s are @ 1.04

as you have said, there are various other factors in play, but trust me, my set up works well
