Today I discovered that my TM-6800HD is not saving any motor fine tuned position! I have verified this on a number of frequencies on 16East and after I fine tune the dish and save, as soon as I exit all menus the signal is back to how it was before the fine tuning. I am sure about this, there was a frequency that with fine tunining I managed to improve from 55% to 59%, then I save, I exit and I get back 55%. If I try again same thing occurs! I was hoping to fix this with the latest patch (699p) because before I was using an older patch but this did not help!

could be you're motor needs a hardware reset, keep also in mind you have different signal strengths from different satellites there. Don't know if this works the same as on the Super? Select your channel to view with the weakest strength and press the ● while viewing. You can now move the dish East or West and get an indication of the strength on that channel. When you're fine with the result save the position. Don't forget there is a delay up to 2 seconds before you get actual read out. (processing time)

sound to me as your tm is set to usals.
If its in 1.2 setting it would save the new setting.
Sugest u check your motor setting in main menu.

First of all thanks to both Giga and Techmate :)

Now my replies:

x Techmate

I am 100% sure that the settings are using 1.2 and not USALS.

x Giga

I did not know about the blue button option while watching the channel! Thanks a lot for this because this is so much better than going trough the menu! With the blue button you can:

1. Watch the channel while fine tuning (from menu you cannot watch channel)

2. It displays immediately the frequency you want to fine tune (from menu you have to find it using the < and > buttons unless it happens to be the first frequency in the settings)

3. It really saves after you choose Save (from menu was still not saving for me!) although when I bought the TM in May 2009 with the firmware from that time the 'save' worked in the menu.

Another way how it worked (without any fine tuning) was to change the frequency from the channel list using ClarkTech Editor. This was suggested to me on another forum and it really works, so for example if you have a frequncy 12719 and it is breaking up, if you change it to 12722 the signal will go up by 3% or 4%. Unfortunetly Kos, Flys*t and Lyngs*t all give different values for most frequencies so one can never know which one is the most accurate! It seems that other receivers like the Dreambox and Humax compensate for this because I have checked with my old Humax (and same dish, LNB, etc...) and the Humax still managed to lock a low signal transponder on 16E without needing to do any fine tuning or changing frequency from the channel list.

I'm aware of this frequency issue, could be a LNB problem where the LNB is no longer operating with it's LNB frequency 9.750/10.600 and drifted somehow? If you have a spare LNB to test this or just change the frequency in Satellite Setup in LNB Freq:
from 9750/10600 to
9753/10603
9752/10602
9751/10601
9749/10599
9748/10598
9747/10597
shifting frequencies on both sides +1 or -1 and so on

Thanks I will try to test with different LNB freq next week and wil let you know.

x Giga just wanted to add that I did not test the old LNB as you suggested because as I have said in another thread I have replaced my sat dish (with a bigger one) and replaced the LNB as well. However, after installing the new equipment I confirmed 2 things:

(i) The TM6800-HD requires the exact signal on the majority of the transponders with a low symbol rate. I have confirmed this with my brand new LNB which is .1db (the previous one was .2b). To confirm this I carried out tests on 21.5East and 10East because these 2 sats have many channels with a low symbol rate. On all tested channels the result was always the same: if I enter the frequency given by KoS I would not have any signal but if I enter the frequency given by Lyngsat the signal would go up to anything between 70% and 75% (depending on the channel)! So it seems that the TM-6800HD does not allow for any frequency tolerance on low symbol rate transponders.

(ii) The software of the TM-6800 does not save any finetuning if done via the menu but it saves it if done via the blue button. I confirmed this because now that I have connected the positioner to the TM-6800HD everytime that I finetune from the receiver's blue button as soon as I press save (on the receiver), the display of the positioner will flash 3 times with the DiseqC position number. However, if I finetune from the receiver's menu as soon as I press save (on the receiver), the display of the positioner will NOT flash and the position is not saved, even though the receiver displays the message that it saved the position. So, appearently this is a bug in the software of the TM-6800HD.
