Hi, need to know if azbox really plays the ripped bluray iso?
no and yes. Theoretically it can play the rip, practically not as the network bandwidth is not big enough. What's more DTS sound doesn't work and new advanced audio codecs are not supported

What has to do the network with blu ray files in a a usb hdd?
Of course to play any files over the network can bring many problems, and doesn't need to be an HD file, sometimes your network don't allow you to play SD files neither.
But the fact is,if you play it from an usb hdd, some rips can play fine,if they don;t go over 20-25 mbs.
(and I can even play those over the network too)
All depends on your setup.
It is true it has problems with dts,but nothing forbid you to convert the audio to AC3/AAC.
have you seen any BR with a bitrate lower than 25Mb?
I agree you can try to play from usb disk but I wouldn't give it to much chance either.
And can somebody finally explain me why I should do any recoding? It takes time and you loose quality. Box should do what was declared and user shouldn't be forced to find some workarounds
