No.

Just the same as you don't need to spend more than a fiver on a HDMI cable.

agreed, I watch HD on these SD lnb's:
ALPS twin BSTE5-101B 0.6 dB
ALPS single BSTE5-101B 0.6 dB
Boca single LNB IP 401 0.6 dB
mti single AP8-T2B 0.6 dB
Technomate single TM-1 0.1 dB
and guess what: it works

don't think there is a HD lnb the standard universal lnbf will also work on analogue sat signals just curious is anyone receiving HD channels on c band in the uk with c band HD lnb's of course

you can always test your HD C-band LNB on these channels:
FTA:
Intelsat 10 68.5E: NHK World 3744 H SR 26600 FEC 1/2

Irdeto 2, KeyFly, Viaccess 4.0:
Arabsat 5A 30.5°E: Al Jazeera Sports HD 1 4125 R SR 27500 FEC 3/4

PowerVU:
Intelsat 11 43.0°W: Rush HD 3864 V SR 10560 FEC 2/3
Intelsat 11 43.0°W: TDN Centroamérica 3943 H SR 7812 FEC 5/6
Intelsat 11 43.0°W: MGM HD Brasil 3958 V SR 6400 FEC 3/4

First you need a new HD dish & HD coaxial cable, otherwise your HD LNB will not work. :)
