View Full Version : Vu Duo+ arriving today

I am expecting my VU Duo+ to arrive today.

Can I ask for reccomendations for which Image I should use and why?

I am not too bothered about the ability to multiboot images unless there is a very good reason why I should do this.

I already have a DB7020 so it shouldn't take me too long to set up the Vu, although I will have to wait a day or two for the hard drive to arrive.

I am currently using pli. I was on dreamelite but it would not play media files as well as pli (which i use mine quite a bit for). They are really easy to flash so give each image a try and find which one suits you best. Enjoy your new toy

I'm also running PLI as well now.

ALso was on Dream Elite.
I do like the Dream Elite version, but the PLi seems quicker to me.

Congratulations on your new Toy.
I'm sure like me you'll have hours of fun getting it the way you want it.

OK, my first problem.

I am trying to open the front flap.

I can open it slightly, but it doesn't want to open.

I am reluctant to pull hard in case I break something.

Is this a known problem?

Slight resistance is normall but it really is not that tight.

Currently testing new VTI image which is pretty good.

Managed to open it with much careful struggling.

It seems that the panel to the left of the flap looking at the front is oversized and causing the problem.

I suppose it will eventaully sort itself out after some use.

I assume I can go ahead and set some things up before I actually get the HDD to install inside?

I would be grateful if anyone with a v2 box running with one of these could tell me how easy it is to setup.

I am guessing it can't be much different from setting one up with a DB7020.

Box is not flashing with usb drive in front slot.

I just get VU+ in middle of screen and 'loading enigma2' bottom right and nothing seems to happen.

Sorted.

USB should be 'Fat' and not 'Fat32'.

Now flsahed with Pli and currently setup just for Astra 19.2 until I have had a play around with it.

Another problem.

I am trying to enter my location.

I can enter longitude fine.

But, when I try to enter my latitude, the first digit can only be 1,2 or 3.
My first digit is 5. If I press 5 on the remote, it will default to a 3.

How do I overcome this?

360° max so leading 0 in front

0 in front of the 5 or do I ignore the 5?

dog-man

I assume you are doing your N setting - If your posit' is 54.1 then enter it exactly like that (it puts the decimal point in for you) :biggrinjester:

And don't forget to save it (further down)

dog-man

But the first digit can only be 0,1,2 or 3 for some strange reason.

Yes it is the N I am referring to.

Hmmm, Usals is not working for me.

I assume because I am using a Vbox?

You can't use USALS with a Vbox II. VBox II will only accept DiSEqC1.2 protocols.

Yeah, I came to that conclusion eventually!

Mentally exhausted now. Been having some restless nights lately, so am going to bed early and will start afresh in the morning. :20:

I did manage to get ccCam working and I am reasonably sure I know where I was going wrong today. :302:

If your VBox II already has the satellite positions stored and your changing from an old receiver to Vu+ then follow this procedure.

Write down your VBox II satellite position numbers. These are the numbers displayed on the front of the VBox II when moving to a
specific satellite position. These position numbers can also be found in your old receivers motor setup menu.

Example lets say...
Position 1 on VBox II = Astra 19e
Position 2 on VBox II = Eutelsat W2 16e
Position 3 on VBox II = Hotbird 13e

You get the idea...

First send the dish to Astra 19e using Vbox II.

On Vu+ Remote Press Menu
Select Setup Press OK
Select Service Searching Press OK
Select Tuner configuration Press OK
Select Tuner A Press OK

Now set Configuration Mode to Advanced. Use Left or Right keys on remote to select.

Configuration Mode: Advanced
Satellite: Astra 19e
LNB: 1
DiSEqC mode: 1.2

Scroll down to botton of the page with the down arrow on remote.

Stored position: 001

Press OK to store.

OK that's Astra 19e setup now to setup Eutelsat W2 16e

Send the dish to Eutelsat 16E using Vbox II.

Select Setup Press OK
Select Service Searching Press OK
Select Tuner configuration Press OK
Select Tuner A Press OK

Configuration Mode: Advanced
Satellite: Eutelsat W2 16e
LNB: 2
DiSEqC mode: 1.2

Scroll down to botton of the page with the down arrow on remote.

Stored position: 002

Press OK to store.

OK that's Eutelsat W2 16e setup now to setup Hotbird 13e

Send dish to Hotbird using Vbox II

Select Setup Press OK
Select Service Searching Press OK
Select Tuner configuration Press OK
Select Tuner A Press OK

Configuration Mode: Advanced
Satellite: Hotbird 13e
LNB: 3
DiSEqC mode: 1.2

Scroll down to botton of the page with the down arrow on remote.

Stored position: 003

Press OK to store.

You get the idea, now repeat for the rest of the satellites and your done.

All set up and running now, just have to install the hard drive tomorrow.

One thing I must say, is that I am not impressed with the channel zapping speed. It's quite slow compared to my DB7020.

I am using the Pli image.

Is there any way to speed up the channel zapping?

Also, the image of the channel you are moving away from stays there until it finds the next channel. Is there a way to have the screen blank when doing this?

Seems very sluggish to me.

Must be something in your setup dog man I find my box superfast compared to the 7020 I was using.
Just a thought have you only got one LNB cable connected?
