I have EXACTLY the same problem with all the firmwares I tried (since 4717) and I have tried them all !!!
If anyone could suggest a solution to this it would be great !

delete your plugins, start again and only install what you need/use.
make your own channel lists with what you need.
kgd 4890 works best for me with morsers ota epg and latest multicas :cheers2:

I have already done this.
I have only one plug-in (Multicas) and my channel list from scanning. I have done clean installation and generally is a light setup.
This not the solution.
More ideas ,please ?:bigear:

If you have a HDD installed, deinstalle it and try again.

I have this problem too. But I can't remember that it started exactly from which firmware. I've tried to backward many firmwares but it failed. Right now, I'm using 4890KGD with fucntion General and Channel optimized. It helps to handle this problem better than doing nothing.

Do you have done an update with disk-format?
Here is an instruction for the best way to make the update.
Using an USB Storage
If you have a USB memory stick, you can update the firmware from it by performing the following steps:
1) Download a new firmware from the Azbox web site. (Format of software should be patch.bin)
2) Copy the firmware file to your USB memory stick in the root-directory.
3) Switch off the AZBoxHD
4)Insert the USB memory stick into the USB port of the AZBoxHD.
5) Switch ON the AZBoxHD
6) Select 4. Format application area and press OK. Wait for the message that format was done.
7) Switch off the receiver (Take it from the current) for about 1 minute.
8) Switch ON the AZBoxHD
9)Select 1. USB and press OK. Now following message should appear:
Found patch file in USB storage
- Your Version: unknown
- Patch Version: x.x.xxxx AZbox (x.x.xxxx should be the version of the file on the USB stick)
If you want to update, press OK button.
Press OK again.
The AZbox will install the new version.
10) Please wait for the installation.
After installation, the receiver will be rebooted again.
Now you can use the receiver with upgraded version.
!!!! IN ANY CASE DON'T POWER OFF OR REBOOT DURING THE UPDATE PROCESS!!!!
IMPORTANT NOTE
Your USB memory must be formated in the FAT file system. Otherwise, the digital receiver cannot recognize your USB memory. In addition, the digital receiver can only recognize files and directories which are named with only alphabetic, numeric and underscore letters. If there is a file or folder named with other letters, the digital receiver cannot recognize not only it but also its subsequent files and folders.

I have this problem also for the two latest FW (azbox-0.9.5006 and 5020). Not sure about the more previous. When I change from a HD channel to some other channel it can take approx. 30 seconds.
