this dm800hd box i am very happy with apart from the tuner.

i have set it up many a time get all sats and store them, after a while i try and move the dish i get no response it just wont move, it is as it as just lost them all.

this is what i am doing, i have tried using usals with long and lat from multimaps, but dish goes well past sats, so i use tuner a:alps BSBE2 (DVB-S2)
advanced.

image is dreamelite. i set dish to 1west and store it at position 8, then find 30west store it at 19, then 28deg at 42, 19.2 at 1 13deg at 2 and so on. spin the dish to different packages all ok for a while, then it seems to loose stored positions.

con fig mode advanced
lnb lnb1
priorty auto
LOF user defined
Diseqc mode 1.2

is there anyone who can help me, i have used new xml file. it is driving me mad. is there another plugin i can download to use.
help will be much appriciated

I recommend trying again with USALS.

You say the dish goes well past sats. This means that the dish is either incorrectly aligned for USALS OR the coordinates you have entered are incorrect.

1. Install channel list (look at dreambox settings on the forum, copy the settings over with dreamboxedit.
2. Configure the receiver for USALS.
3. Enter the coordinates of where your dish is located.
4. Select a service from your channels list. The motor will attempt to move to where it thinks the sat is (If you select a service from 1West, the motor will move the dish and it should be pointing in a southerly direction).
5. Use your signal meter to align the dish accurately on this sat. Go back to the receiver and check that you can view services from 1West. If you had a good signal reading but don't see any services on 1West, maybe you are positioned on 4.8E or more to the west.
6. Providing everything is mounted on a perfectly vertical pole and that you have aligned it nicely, when you select a service from a different sat (from your channel list), the motor should turn to exactly the right position. --- if it doesn't, you have incorrectly entered your coordinates.

so you say enter your long and lat turn on usals, so you go select a channel on 1 west, dish turns but slightly goes past 1 west. so i do i get it to go back? do i achieve this by moving dish by aligning dish with sat meter?

one other question if long is long and lat are as below this is not mine by the way its a made up one. how would you enter them where it says long and lat

Lat: 52:40:20N (52.67211)
Lon: 1:20:34W (-1.34265)

To use USALS you must realign yes.

Another good site to get your Longitude and Latitude values from by the way is:
_http://www.dishpointer.com/ Multimap is fine also.

So, using what you have provided in the tuner configuration you would have:

Configuration Mode = Simple
Mode = Positioner
Longitude = 001.343 West
Latitude = 052.672 North

I don't know why you are losing your positions when using the DiSEqC motor as I don't use it. But, I am using DM800 with DreamElite image, with USALS and don't experience any issue with finding the correct sat positions. So, the software seems OK.

I have seen examples where people have set up motorised setups and it works fine for saved positions (DiSEqC motor mode) but not for USALS and the reason is because it isn't aligned for it.

Hope this is helpful to resolving your issue.

Glad to hear you managed to set it up, thats good news.

Not in USALS mode that I know of.
You can of course still use it in DiSEqC motor mode which allows for step by step movements.

A good test to check if you are aligned correctly is to go to 30W, 1West and 28.2E. If you can pull in all these positions your pole is nicely vertical and your alignment is OK.
For me, I first used 1/0.8West to align but this sat is not the strongest for me and not the most important. I think I selected a service from 19.2E so the motor turned... then I spent a long time fine-aligning the dish on this satellite. I took a long time aligning it so that I was confident the dish was aligned as best as possible.

Also something to point out to make sure your setup it optimised for east to west usage...

The pole, the motor and the dish should in zero position be one infront of the other. See 5mins 10seconds of this vid: _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k_yhxmGlEA
Generally this video clip is a good reference to use when setting USALS up.

I'd also recommend using USALS . I had the same problem with some positions using Diseqc . Sometimes it would move , sometimes it wouldn't . I'm now using USALS for all my sats and it's working fine .
