Some advice please

I would like to buy a new HD receiver as my old TM1500 has failed. What would be the best one to go for. I have a budget of around £250. I have looked at the spiderbox 9000 but the thing that puts me off is the gift and having a knock on the door at some time in the future.

frankly , if you are not going to use a "gift" then there seems little point buying any receiver

and in any case you can keep the "gift" switched off and use it the same as your tm1500

this also applies to any box you buy , if you use the same methods available to you on your tm1500
