You'll need a 2.5" sata drive. The type you put in a laptop.

I've got a 320gb in mine. Not sure if there is a max limit.

Then you just unscrew the two side screws, and 2 on the back of the dm800.

You should have a bracket. Mount the hard drive on the bracked with 2 screws (I think the bracket and screws come with the dm800), then use the sata cable that came with the dm800, one side on the 2.5" hard drive the other in the sata port on the dm800 motherboard.

You may need to remove the esata cable already plugged into the dm800 motherboard sata connector in order to free it to plug in the hard drive sata cable.

Thats it. Close it up, boot, then hit setup on the remote, then system, and you should see your hard drive. You may need to initialize it from there.

Not sure if size matters but i'm sure i have read somewhere that there is compatibility problems with some hard drives.

If it helps i have a Seagate Momentus 5400.2 100GB S150

no problems with it and really easy to fit all you need is a sata cable that may even have been supplied with your reciever.

An eSata hard drive can easily be fitted into the 800 but a simpler option and one which cuts down on the internal heat in the 800 is to fit an external esata drive which has its own power supply.
