There are many different versions of a conax cam. Going back many years there were official and unofficial conax cams, and sometimes the unofficial cams would not always work as well an the official version.

Recently I have seen even more unofficial cams being sold which apparently work with the Tring card.

Can you gives a few more details of the cam you have bought so that we can identify it. An official cam is easy to spot - it has Conax written on the front and all the valid SCM data on the reverse.

Looks like the real Mcoy to me same as mine in fact and that was ok with a digit-alb card in the dreambox.

see if switching of patch reads official cam? CI cam should work and should show in the menu Common Interface of Technomate (you don't tell what TM model?)

You seem to have solved your problem by using your Technomate receiver and not your Conax cam.

But I am curious about the cam. The Conax label looks identical to a genuine Conax cam, but the data on the back is nothing like a genuine Conax cam. Do you have any more information about what is written on the back? Does it have the SCM trademark?

Sorry, I can't see the detail. All I can say that the layout is not the same as the original and genuine cams I have seen.

But that does not mean anything as there are probably different versions of a genuine conax cam. But I need to be able to see all the writing on the cam to be sure.

It doesn't look anything like my genuine conax cam, at least on the back, there's no Part Number, or DVB Number, only what looks like a sticker with a barcode.
Looks like it might be a clone, not an original, which could explain why it doesn't work.
Can you try it in a different receiver, to check that it's not a compatibility issue?

not sure on this, but missing the SMARDTV info on the back and the manufactured in country, does worry me if I look at my official Manufactured under Mediaguard licence by them?

I have the same cam and it has difficulty seeing the tring card. It did activate the card but would freeze every few seconds and the no access message would flash to indicate it had lost the card. I ended up rummaging in my cam drawer and found an old telenor conax cam and that works flawlessly

Hi canova,
could u please post details of the telenor conax cam u have. i also have one which is about ten years old and just wondering if it may be the same.
thanks

Telenor cams should be genuine conax cams. Why don't you post an image of the reverse of your cam showing the part number and all the other detail so that we can check it for you.

hechicero

ok, this is a pic of the reverse. i dont for one moment think it is not genuine. just wondering if these old cams are compatible with modern conax systems

oops. did something wrong with adding the pic there.
anyway the numbers on the sticker are:

Cam 3.03
780-0001-06 1.0

Burnham

That looks like one of the early genuine Conax cams. v3.03 was the version before just before v4.00.

But unless we can see all the copyright marks from a scan we can't be 100% sure.
