Can an italia card be made to work with internal reader without the box having a voltage mod applied? I picked a card and box up last night but it appears to start burning within a few seconds to a couple of minutes. I have tried it back in the italia box so i have not quite killed it yet.

You do not state which version card you have or which emu you are testing with.
If you supply as much info as you can then I am sure you will get the help you need.

Thank's for the reply the emu is cccam as for the card i am not sure what version it is. It is pale blue and white in colour with a deeper blue logo.
The box is an original dm800 and the image i am using at the moment is nabilosat v12.

I suggest you update your image to start with to make sure you have the latest drivers, then you need to use Oscam for the card you mention.

Any particular image? I take it that i can't just update the drivers on the image i am using?

I suggest a complete image change as there have been major changes, Newnigma is worth a look.
You can also download Oscam from addons with this image but you will need to learn how to update oscam and configure it for your card.
Try googling streamboard for more info.

From your reply I can assume you have the latest version of oscam running and you have specified the mhz to 357 ?

No not yet but i have had a look at the conf and can only see the option for cardspeed not voltage. I can set the cardspeed via cccam as well and that has not helped. Are you saying that the cardspeed setting in oscam varies from cccam in that it effects the voltage?

I have now installed oscam but i had to switch to gemini to do it and it is still burning the card.

It appears the dm800 reader maybe faulty. I decided to rule out the box by trying another. On the dm500 i now have oscam talking to the card but i am struggling to get oscam talking to cccam. But at least the 500 is not burning the card while i am trying.
