Your opinion on S4000 hd Pvr

Hi to all. First post

Am very attracted to this, but am a total newbie. I have a 1.1 m Triax dish and Technomate motor still to be installed. Just fancied a new hobby !

Can I do better than this for the price £299.

Does not seem to be that popular.

Any info appreciated.

Hi there, I joined this forum recently because of the purchase of S4000. I really like it. I had a few hiccups with it to start with, but now that they have been sorted I am pleased with it. But, I have to say I don't do any hi tech stuff with it. Depends on your expectations, really.

Maybe start with a Dreambox 500s first (65 quid for a clone including shipping), and then decide on going the HD PVR route if it takes your fancy.

I really like this decoder but there isn't much around in terms of plugins and a working EPG. The Dreambox on the other hand has loads of custom images and plugins available.

If you want all the custom images, plugins and HD in one, maybe invest in a VU+ Duo decoder. That's the next one I'm going to buy.
