I've a 800HD and having big problems when watching and recording HD at the same time (the same program). It results in a lot of interference - the picture keeps breaking up. Watching HD live and from recordings is fine, it's only this one situation.
I've been told this is a performance limitation of the DM800. I'm thinking of upgrading to a DM8000 but want to check with you guys if these problems persist? I know that the DM8000 has a 400MHz processor which is a stepup from the DM800's 300MHz so this might be the fix that I need.
Thanks

Just because the number is higher doesn't mean it is a better chip. They are from the same family, and if you look at the spec sheets the processor speed looks to be identical. What is different is one supports 2 usb ports the other 3, one of them has a 2D graphics engine while the other has 2D & 3D, one supports resolutions up 1080i while the other is up to 1080p, etc.. The chip has been chosen to support the capabilities of the box.

If the 8000 cpu can handle 4 tuners + any aditional usb tuners and the 800se uses an identical cpu only for one tuner, then you can get a significant speed advantage.
About the 1080p, not many providers transmit 1080p pictures. One can decode 1080p by hardware or by software. The 8000 handles it by hardware which means that its cpu is freed to do something else, while the other boxes including the 800se handle it by software. In both cases 1080p can be decoded.
