My views on my new Azbox Prem +

Soooo I've just got this new box and played around with it for a week installing every tweak and addon I could find, anyway needless to say it slowed down and performed like a slug so last night I completly rebuilt it with the same latest firmware 9.5, formatting the apps area at the same time to make it a total fresh install...I then installed multicas as a CCcam client only and added a swap file to a USB pendrive and then installed PM 1.8 for a few speed tweaks...needless to say the box is still slugish to change channel, encrpted HD sly channels clitch all the time ( even with good .2 ECM times ) the EPG doesn't update all the channels and when using the PVR recorded files come back as invalid format when I go to play them....

I take it this is pretty much what lifes like with an Azbox as this was a fresh install and latest firmware....so "at the moment" to sum it up Azbox is slow and pretty crappy as a PVR/HD sat box...is that a fair comment ?

I had the same problems with trying to playback recorded files. To playback, choose "Menu" on the remote, and then "Recorded files".

It doesn't work if you go by the "Home" and "Movie" route.

you have nicely summed up the reason why we are hoping that the new enigma2 software will be a big leap a head for this box. I only use my Azbox to watch, it does it quite well somedays it performs better than other days. But SKY(UK,ITA,Ger) are glicthy. Hope that the native cccam support on enigma2,can make that problem go away. But the picture quality of this box is superb.

Mine has actually been really good, played avatar from start to finish yesterday and the DTS does drop out and pop ever so often but it only drops out for 5-10 seconds and comes back...is that the same as yours ?

Hi DrChaos,

At the moment Prem+ owners like me are waiting for E2 to become available which will improve the useless opensat firmware out of sight, so the answer is yes because there is already an E2 test version for the standard Prem and Elite and the developers have stated that they intend to bring out a Prem+ version soon and this will mean a more stable Prem+.

Thanks DRChaos I've looked high and low regarding more info on this but nothing on how to edit these files so thanks for helping...can you just advise in more detail what this does, I know you said it was to do with idents in the stream but have you got a little more info :)

Please see #9. I have no idea what this does beyond what is mentioned here.

I can only tell that this worked in my AZ. From a German forum I learned that the priority list is even more important, you would have to place the correct CIAD there. I was further pointed to the multicas info plugin (seems to me that this will give you the correct CIAD), but I haven't tried that by now, but I will definetly check...

For NDS there's several options like Italy and Germany also use NDS thats why there's ### 09xx : NDS

Is this for Sky UK? As far as I know you will need 098E only if your provider KabelBW in Germany...

yes only for sky uk so can I remove the 098e ?

Yeah, I think so, but I don't have Sky UK. To my view 098E is ONLY used by KabelBW in Germany (DVB-C), but you never know.
You could put it in there ignore list instead and see if this improves performance :) If it doesn't work then, I was wrong ;)

there's no simple way with these Azbox's they are a bit of a handful and if you don't put the time in you won't get the most out of it...read the guide and start slow :)
