What's the best route for this - particularly for large files?
My experience so far is that <4Gb files can be copied to usb flash @ a rate of about 20 Mbits/sec (FAT32) or via the network connection (Gigabit switch) at the pretty sluggish rate of 6 Mbits/sec
Also I don't seem to be able to delete files on the s4000 HDD.

Thaks for that.
1. I can delete now (by using my PC) but that is a bit naff
2. Currently copying off a 2 hour HD movie which is 12Gb in size. Time taken to copy off is ~ an hour! Transfer rate is around 20 mbits/s

What I've found now is that if I put the receiver in standby after I've tuned to a free to air SD program I get the best network transfer rates (~30 Mbits/s) which is acceptable.

I have noticed that you cannot delete files when HD is in use (watching recorded stuff/recording). Time shift doesn't seem to matter.

Try using Filezilla, I find it faster.
