What is new ?

After A/V setup (I've setted HDMI 1080p 100Hz), the content of file "/etc/videomodeaz" is:

No output video with HDMI or SCART.

I've tested the screenshot too.
The screenshoot is ok, a file was created in /tmp, but not displayed, maybe because the filename is wrong:
file created "1292311599147jpg" insteda of "1292311599147.jpg", the content of that file is the image I've captured...

Premium+ owner here. Flashing didn't go very well, to say the least. I put the fw on a USB stick, the Azbox recognized the stick & firmware. But during the first flash (before you start Azup) it froze at 32%. After five minutes it was still frozen, so I turned the box on and off. Result, it hangs at booting, won't respond to anything. So now I have to send it to the distributor for repairs again. Nice...:mad:

I Have an Azbox HD Premium too.

1) I use standard skin to avoid previus HD quality problem (I will test later the other skin).
Although the quality is better than when there was a problem with the skin, it does not seem to be the best for azbox, even if the HD image quality depends on many things, but this is my first impression.

2) The screenshoot for me doesn't work

3) Now I'm connected from office with openvpn, I'm able to connect with ftp, with telnet, but now I can't connect with webinterface (this evening I will try with my home lan)

4) sometimes I saw CPU usage of "em8634dvb.ko" about 1,5%, I restart 5-6 times, but now and other time CPU usage is about 15%.
Which is the expected value?

I have tested all version of E2 Azbox without any problems what so ever.

I have also flashed a lot of azboxes without any problems. I also just flashed a premium with the new 1.03. That went okay. With the same usb stick, so the stick is not the problem. With my premium+ the flashing just stalled. Really no idea why.

HD channels - ok (some little flickering sometimes at the top and bottom of the image, but it's ok)

Media player - ok (avi files are fixed, at least that one I tested)

But there are still some little things that have to be fixed...
- When i zap a channel and after that press for example "exit" or "ok" button it zaps again foward or backward... Wierd...
- On some SkyIT channels default language is not Italian but it should be...
- Key maping on the remote isn't logical, i would put "ok" button to enter in the channel list, "exit" button to show channel info, "up" and "down" buttons to change the channels and "left" and "right" buttons for volume...
- In the CrossEPG settings XEPGDB provaider list is empty, so we have to install it manually every time...

mediaplayer is fixed!!! :)
.avi 700mb xvid (seek works perfect, no more audio loss after 2 minutes, no more slow motion, .srt subtitles are perfect)
.avi (xvid) are perfect now! :)

.mkv samples tested 29 mb/s with DTS and 40 mb/s with DTS! working perfect too! gonna test now 10gb and 15gb full mkv movies.

IMHO I would keep the same key mapping as the original FW had. All the Azbox users are used to it, so why change it? Could the programmers map the RC keys to have it like the original FW?

i have same opinion too. it takes a few days to get used too. but it's ok.
but i prefer original mode too :)
in mediaplayer and tv mode like original firmware.

I have never used the original FW.
If someone wants to have its own combination of keys on the RC, simply edit keymap.xml (/usr/share/enigma2) and set for themselves.
This is an "enigma" and has its own advantages and disadvantages.

.mkv 1080p DTS plays perfect but "seek" is not working, it freezes. the rest is perfect.
in .avi seeks works fast and accurate.

Just woke up after the night-shift just to test this newborn baby :respect-applause-00

So let's go:

* Installation goes fine as usual.

* After 1st boot i tried to change a/v setting from menu and i lost HDMI signal. After reboot Box is stuck on "elite" on VFD. Had to modify bootup file as Massimo suggested (Grazie Massimo!! :respect-060:). After that all works fine

* Maually installed 3C Cam 2.2.1 to test my favourite HD channels.

* SD channel usual normal quality
* HD Channel: Great improvement!! Watchin ManU-Arsenal on SlyIt (1080i) and i got no more image degradation nor logo flickering.
Same good quality on HD Suisse (720p)

* Media Player: tested my usual avis and mkvs. No problem at all.

Mounted my PC folder whit cifs: OK
But if i try to mount a second folder i got a segfault error...

I can't get multi channel audio out of the box (both HDMI and SPDIF). What do i have to set to get 5.1 audio?

I do not understand why only I have noticed a lack of quality on HD channels.
I also rechecked 2 hours ago during lunch time changing from SCART to HDMI and even improving, quality is a little higher than SCART.
I made my tests on HD channels (Discovery HD, National Geographic HD, Cinema HD) from SlyIt provider.
I've setted "em8634dvb.ko" module with "HDMI_1080p50" parametr (as reported from the first post).
This evening or tomorrow when I have some time I'll try to change this with other parameters.

I first post this report in wrong thread (1.0.2). For whose who have not seen it I post it again... sorry...

All tests on Azbox Premium +...


- Applied New Audio FIX
It seems to work. I've the first time perfect sound! No distortion after zapping :)
UPDATE: sometimes the sound is gone after zapping and I cannot bring it back because resolution button has no function. I have to switch to another channel and then switch back to get sound. :(


- Interlace/Deinterlace FIX
Picture quality is perfect on HD and on SD!


- CPU 30% usage FIX
It works! The gears doesn't appear. CPU is most time idle.


- Better VFD Support
Hmmm. While booting the VFD shows still strange characters.


- Fixed System clock
Yeah!!! Seems to work perfect!


- Volume UP/Down fully fixed
Works almost perfectly. The only inconsistency is at 100% Volume. If I push volume up at 100% the sound somtimes will fall silent.


- Better overall stabillity
I can confirm very good stability! I have no crash while normal operation (watching TV, zapping...)


- A lot of changes on Enigma 2 ( A/V Settings EXPERIMENTAL , Welcome w_izzard )
After installation I did a factory reset. After this I got a green screen and have to exchange w_izard.py and w_izard.pyo. After that the w_izard worked well!
Btw: nice picture from Azbox RCU :)
AV Settings does not work. After changing the resolution the screen becomes black and I have to reboot. I have to delete /etc/videomodeaz to bring picture back.
Changing aspect ratio has no effect.


- Fixed Multimedia ( MKV, AVI ) now OK
Cannot test MKV and AVI...

BUT... *.ts (recordings from original Azbox FW) will NOT play. That's a pitty because my HDD is full with such recordings (and I suppose not just my HDD...)

Another bugs:
- If I navigate in the provider list I cannot put a provider into my favorits or into a bouquet. The selection is not in the channellist menu so I cannot do it. UPDATE: problem is solved. It was configuration issue in expert settings... my fault...
- EPG still not working completly. After setup CrossEPG in the same way as on my dream800 I have some EPG Information only. My Dreambox with CrossEPG shows my EPG for every channel.

But i notice that there is a little shaked image,i can notice more this, when watching channel logos and straight lines. For example TVnews, and in previous image this wouldn't happen.
Is there a way to activate quality like previous, so i can have a perfectly still image? Or...what is happening?

I just need to know two things to change to RTi images because I need them every day. If someone can help me about it, I appreciated:

1) I use internal reader because I have my own card and dont have any more other receivers or card readers :( So is really necessary for me that is working! But still doesnt in this new version, right? (since dont come in release notes).

2) About RF modulator. Is it working or is possible change the RF channel?? Because I use a RF modulator of a one old video that I have, using SCART and HDMI outputs at same time! Is that possible with this image??

AV Settings does not work. After changing the resolution the screen becomes black and I have to reboot. I have to delete /etc/videomodeaz to bring picture back.

On my Elite HD and Panasonic HD ready TV picture quality is worse than in 1.0.2 beta. I have set 1080i50 in bootup file. When I set 720p50 picture is even worse. Picture on HD channels is like they are SD and SD are worse than SD in last version.
I was one of a few that had good picture quality in 1.0.2 beta. Now things for me get worse.
All other fixes are great! Thank you RTI team!

Premium+ owner here. Flashing didn't go very well, to say the least. I put the fw on a USB stick, the Azbox recognized the stick & firmware. But during the first flash (before you start Azup) it froze at 32%. After five minutes it was still frozen, so I turned the box on and off. Result, it hangs at booting, won't respond to anything. So now I have to send it to the distributor for repairs again. Nice...:mad:

Have Premium+ here and first boot briefly displayed Command Error in the VFD while booting, but did boot ok.

Normal booting from cold takes a long time at start with just a blue LED displayed which is a bit worrying, but it does always boot fine.

For those having problems with resolution settings, follow these steps to do it right:

1. if azbox is not booting up correctly, download the attachment, unpack it, and transfer the file to etc over ftp(backup your bootup file before transfer). restart.

2. after successfully rebooting, go to a/v settings in menu

3. change the video output first to choose which display is being used(for example, hdmi or scart and so on). then, change mode, refresh rate and other settings as you wish and press the green button to confirm the changes. you might have to wait for about 3 to 7 seconds for the next confirmation windows to show.

4. that's it ;)

Audio Synch problem still exists on BBC FTA channels. Think that was when I changed to a non-working BBC Wales.

- Feather the image is very well tested with HDMI 1080p50,
I skepticism or maybe a little too dark.
- If you come out standbay sometimes HDMI does not work. must reboot
- After adjusting AV settings to HDMI then the picture disappears,
you must reboot.
- Factory reset works after adjusting the file ******.spy.
- Wezard still does not quite give strange resolution to select.
- The image is very stable.
- The sound disappears sometimes after the zap,
zap once again the sound is back.
- But the sound quality is very good.
- Zap speed is better, but the picture does not zap the same time hangs.
- Clock runs well on the display.
- if HDMI drop out you can see what you are doing on the display ,
- one thing that annoys me is that the LED lamp stays on standby

* If the internal cardreader works then I think its good for everyday use.

Sorry, but in my humble opinion your step by step howto is totally useless (step 2 and 3) because in your bootup file all settings are hard coded to 1080p50.

To bring picture back it should be enough to replace the file (as you suggested) or - imho more easy - deleting /etc/videomodeaz.

Ok... one question: Why your are doing step 4-7? As you wrote all setting are hard coded in bootup file so the steps 4-7 IMHO cannot has any effect.

For me this simple solution worked fine after getting the dark screen:

1. telnet to box
2. type rm /etc/videomodeaz
3. type reboot

After reboot the picture came back...

The steps 4-7 sets up /etc/videomodeaz incomplete so the original /etc/init.d/bootup hung and you get the black screen. Quick solution is deleting /etc/videomodeaz to get 720p50 (its hardcoded as default) or changing the default to what ever you want....

.mkv samples tested 29 mb/s with DTS and 40 mb/s with DTS! working perfect too! gonna test now 10gb and 15gb full mkv movies.

So, here is my report..

DVB-S/DVB-S2 Scanning OK.
Dish movement OK.
CCcam OK.
Picture Quality SD/HD OK.
Sound OK.

Problems:
Mediaplayer.. Hang up/Cogwheel when changing audio track on MKV.
Mediaplayer.. Can't rewind files (no matter AVI or MKV)
HDMI.. If i switch away from HDMI and back, i get no picture anymore (TV: "LG.. No Signal").. Have to reboot. Scart still show Video/Audio.
Sometimes the Cogwheel is showing without any reason, but it's disappearing. No more hang in TV mode.

Testing now problematic MKV 1080p file (picture stutter and sound gone in original firmware!) and will report then. :)

Just some info about backdrop.mvi.

Im testing for a while the Valerie project and the backdrop.mvi is not showing correctly. If we change to radio mode in azbox e2, the backgound should change also but it doesnt. This means some code id broken ou disabled?

The valerie project, a mediacenter gui, uses backdrop.mvi to show the fanart in the backgound.

Can you guys give me some info on that?

After initial bootup, go to factory reset to delete channels, etc.
Green screen of death/cog wheels loop.

Hi, I have a premium with one tuner. My HD channels are always jitter or jerk since RTi core(0.1, 0.2 and 0.3). As I've reported many times that the old firmwares( 1.0.25, 1.0.28 or 1.0.29) didn't cause this problem. If the hd channels(DVB-S Mpeg2) got synced(press resolution button many many times), the pictures just ran perfect.

By the way, the stablility on this image is improved a lot!!! Many thanks for the team's effort...

Sometimes the sound is gone for a second. looks like a process in background stops the sound output for a second. (Tested on FTA Channel Pro7...)

Same here on BBC HD (28 east).sound dropouts and sometimes cog wheels for about 0.5 of a second gets more frequent the longer the box is left on.

You have a LG tv, right? Seems the handshake is not 100% with LG and Az. I can confirm this on a LG. I can't remember If I had it on OFW.

In my sony bravia 40w2000 takes a few seconds to show up, but not more than 20 seconds or so. (still it is too much :P )

Yes, can confirm this. I have an LG 32LH2000 and AZbox Elite HD. Setting is also 1080p50.
TV shows up "LG.. No Signal" blinking .. Video comes not back, when TV was turned off or changed the input source. On Scart-Output, the Video is still there. Reboot needed. Sometimes, the picture comes back "greeny".
On original firmware, videos needs about 3 sec to display on HDMI. (TV show up "Connecting...")

Unfortunately Sigma wrote library for HDMI chips for user space not the kernel space and after some changes I menage to put HDMI library code from user space to kernel space but with some affects in the code.

Fastest fix is to add control over HDMI reinit over VFD display(some type of menu like in original FW ) so when you lost HDMI TV signal you can on VFD see where you are in MENU and choose option you want. This is some plan ...

after 1000000 try i managed to get video enhancement settings! :)

Are you sure your display can accept not just display 100mhz video input? If so, its probably that your TV can't sync to the 100mhz timing provided. You might try lowering the number to 99 (or lower) to see if you get a number that works. I know when I set mine to 1080p60, the actual mhz is ~67mhz as my display can display the video signal being fed.

You mix things up. Your TV does process the input signal by itself to show up as 100Hz eg it upconverts the input 50Hz signal (or whatever Hz) to 100Hz output on the TV set just to avoid a flickering picture (and maybe do some extra processing to hide jaggies etc).

Don't even know if there is such a thing as 100Hz video signal maybe in the professional field.

Also adding to this can anyone advise how I get RGB with SCART, I've tried all the settings and nothing gets me RGB...without RGB my CRT TV drops about 50% quality with small text such as the EGP...

For anyone interested, factory firmware via HDMI connection the display information shows:
Azbox setting PAL 1080p = 56.3kHz 50hz 1920x1080P
Azbox setting NTSC 1080p = 67.5kHz 60Hz 1920x1080P

These exact same output resolution/timings are found when editing the E2 bootup file with 1080p50 and 1080p60 ;)

Is there anyone here who is testing 1.0.3 and later on wanting to use KGD4890 inparallel like me? How do you do this without corrupting your KGD image?

I am asking because last time I tested 1.0.1, I had installed RTI core on USB, so as to revert to KGD without problem. But when I tried to go back to KGD by using azupd, it complained about something like "incompatible version".
I had to use an original AZBPX frmware to get back into the update path, by this corrupting my installed KGD version. In the end, I had to do quite a lot of re-installation and readjusting.

I would try reinstalling if you get green screen repeatedly, if it scanned previously it should work with this version if it didnt maybe you do have a faulty tuner?

I dont use positioner setup it always comes up with green screen on mine as well! When I install software my dish is on 13east (hotbird) I do tuner configuration, set my location long and lat and then do a manual scan. Set scan type to single sat, set sat(hotbird) and then clear before scan to yes then press ok! As long as your dish is set up correctly to follow the arc you should be able to rescan each sat you use, it works for me anyway!

first go to tuner config and change to advanced change to the sat you want
go down to diseq cange to 1.2 press ok to save and
exit
go to manual scan then change scan transponter to scan satelite
then go down to arase ch before scan an pick yes and ther you go

don't know if i missed anything as i wrote them from my memory good luck

If your positioner is set to off then you are not using a motorised dish or at least it is not going to move! It needs to be set to usal or diseq 1.2! I must ask, I take it you are not using a seperate box to move dish are you?

In original FW u have to set Off,Usals (Longitude + Latitude) or Diseqc positioner (whatever u have) for each satellite, if u have on some satellite set OFF it will move to other satellite where is set USALS but not back to that one where it set to OFF!!!

On frequency 11739000 Canaldigitaal NED2-HD the picture is perfect

The second channel in this package that behaviuos incorrect like NED1-HD is RTL4-HD which is also on frequency 11856000.

It does not seem the transponder/frequency as Discovery-HD showcase also on freq. 11758000 has a perfect picture.

Anybody else see this behavior?

I have testing this image since it was out and is prety stable.

About TV the only thing that is buggy is that after some time i have small freezes ( miliseconds ).

About media player there is some work still to do, but it plays all files now, like avi, mp4, mkv+ac3, mkv+dts, and some more.

Good work guys so far.

PS: when the svn server? I think about e2 code the most work will be done by other teams , and it still much to do, like valerie projectm the backgounds dont show since version 1.0.25, maybe something disabled our someting broken in the code.
