ive had my 1mtr dish up for a few yrs now. and its also a couple of yrs since i last used it. last time i was using dragon cam and watching taquilla. so its a while ago
i want to get a new linux box and start to use it again .
ive just tried it and it seems to be stuck at 28 deg astra for sky
i have a echostar dsb 808 with conax embedded. no matter what i do, i cant get the dish to move,
sounds like i need to get someone out, or is there something i can try.
i have lost touch with all the engineers i used in the past. and am wondering how to get a reliable one. also would like one who can give a free estaimate.
im in the wigan area, are you allowed (on here )to recomend one to me

You may need to post a few more details, motor type and what you've tried.

motor might just need some wd40 ( note it freezes )
or check the cables and cut a bit of them in and out side. and rejoin and self`mag tape

it is best to move dish every 3 months for a few mins to keep in tip top working order.

if the motor as died best top take a few pictures use a marker to keep the guides, and buy same model ( or newer ) and copy pole/hight/lnb/.

ps there is not much left so as to paying out extra ;-) best to check before you do.

thanks for the quick replies
not sure what ive got fitted. it was done by an installer a few yrs ago. i just paid him for the job, i know its not one with the old motor arms.
and ive no way of getting to the dish to look at it.
just took a quick shot of it, does this help

TRY holding the manual east and west buttons under your motor at same time...
for 5 seconds...or untill you see lights flash...mine actually flashed orange,i am refering to the power light underneath the motor...
when you have done that...send the motor to true south...then to a satalite
...i had this problem along time ago...this is what i was advised to do...
worked for me...good luck

Marky

what you have is a cryptic h-h diseqc motor

i had one of those quite a few years back

right i got it sorted
long story. but
i have 3 cables at the back of the tv, 1 for the motorised dish and the 2 feeds from the sky dish
i dont know why i did this, but i replaced one of the leads from the sky dish into the the motorised receiver, and then i tried the other one. and guess what, the motor worked,
now i cant be sure, but it looks like sky mixed the leads up, the last time they did some work, as ive not used the big dish for a while, i never realised i had a problem
anyway after all this time, the motor still works
