octagon \ icecrypt firmware question

when i install the octagon fw, i always set the reseller id to the octagon 1018 first, ie PRIOR to upgrading the firmware, BUT, in order to put the Octagon firmware on, i have to boot the machine up anyway to the Icecrypt software...

Therefore, surely it can run both f/w's no matter what reseller id you have set?

my thinking is this - if the the machine is able to boot up to the icecrypt fw in the first place WITH an octagon reseller ID, then surely it can run both fw's happily...?
