I gave a Friend of mine a hand to set up his new system (Spiderbox 9000HD + Darkmotor) We got it up and running about 6 weeks ago and up until last week its been working great. The problem is that now for some reason the motor ,starts to move the dish one way then the other before going back to where it was. I went to see him the other day we did a factory reset, got it all working again and thought we had cured it, as when I was there it behaved itself. But he has since been in touch to say that it still does it.
Any ideas anyone?

done a couple of these not my choice ..manually , dont like spiderboxs . its like your box , id say it either moves to fast to far .. good job i have a meter. i didnt use usuals , i never do . had to get it to sat then save . i took no notice of the tps ,cause it was givent stupid results on the strength and quality bar , the meter never lies lol.
either use usuals or make sure you aint going to far past {active }tps if manually doing
doing it ..your motor will be ok i think best of luck

??????????
right what i had to do was move me dish manually .. outside. whilst haveing sat thor on the menu ,ready to store on the reciver. provideing the dish is set up correctly... then i connect my horizon meter peak it on that sat .
then go back into the house and store it same with most of the sats... surely thats not to hard for you to understand ..
reason being ..why do they have non active tps in the setting s. like i noticed with spiderboxs.. basicly the box just moves the motor to fast . its very anoying ..i dont mess on with usuals..
thought a dm 500 was bad on a motor ..( **** easy compared to these **** things)
ps i dont own one i just corrected a few .set wrong as for me i use me acuator and v box ..dont like **** horizon to horizon motors:respect-040:

No need to factory reset to correct motor issues
Menu> Motor setup>
Scroll down to command>
use the right curser button & scroll to Go to Centre>
press ok >
Command Is Executed
This resets the motor but doesn't delete your usual settings or Diseqc stored positions,

Thanks for suggestion. It is set on DiSEqC 1.2, but I wouldn't have thought that would make any difference.

Thanks Compass, have already tried that, but occasionally the motor still moves on it's own accord.

im not trying to confuse people..just i did it this way as above . as i did not have any good strong active tps list for all sats on me and the dish was low levell.
i found doing it manually was easier and not guess work.. ( i understand people cant always acess there dish or have a meter ,,,
advice make sure you are searching for an active tp . move with motor little at a time .
its painfully slow mind .
i would get lost evrytime . either it would fly by the sat or take forever to lock .
really put me off the spiderbox ..i know for a fact it wernt the motor..
best of luck ..

Jackieorange.
I don't think you fully understand my friends problem. It's not a setup problem. All the sats are set up with good signals, no problem at all in that respect.
It's when he's watching a program, the dish, for no apparent reason, goes on walkabout and then returns to where it was, and all is OK. Until the next time, which could be 5 mins or an hour later.

My dish did exactly the same thing after a little adjustment to my dish positioning, after many hours of frustrating restoring of sat positions the dish would seem OK and then start moving about, suspicion that the spiderbox had somehow scrambled my USALS in my dish motor was confirmed by a flashing Amber light on my Motek motor . The only solution is (was)to try to put dish on 0 degrees and reset motor through pinhole. Since then there has been no re-occurence,Don't forget to save your channel list,do a factory restore to clear your sat positions on your spiderbox,re-install you patch and channels and away you go, solved my wandering motor issue.

Thanks Markinstien, I will try that.
I saw my M8 yesterday and he said that the other night it didn't move at all and thought the problem had gone, but the next night it did it again.
I will report back in a couple of days after trying as you suggest.

Moteck Motors or Their OEMs are pain in the as... ( This come from the cheap cost they like to produse to compite with cheap prices in market...or becouse some time they did not copy well the others..)
Time to time losing possition and not working good in USUALS system...
That problem has no think to do with Spiderbox is perfect in Dsiqc 1.2 and USUALS...

Hi
Well, my 2 moteck sg-2100 has been working ok for years with USALS and DiSEqC 1.2 with different receivers (only one receiver had problems but that was because of heating ..)
Other one now in top of house and having very big wind load to 120 offset (when blowing from lake) And to me better than stab-120.
But anyway this is also OT...from post #1

I've had lot of motor issues in last couple of years. A TM motor with a manual roughly translated into english from the original is not easy to follow but says in a nutshell:
1. drive dish to 0 true south either by receiver or manual button on motor
2. reset motor by reset function, A small pinhole next to green light into which you need to stick a very long pin / paperclip
3. most importantly power off LNB before doing anything else.
4. Power back on LNB.
5. put your sats back in manually by DiSEqC 1.2 or give usals a try.
This is only thing that works for me and its then ok till next time. No amount of fiddling with receiver settings will work without a motor re-set. Which is why I suspect that the motor is to blame. Sometimes I think that the motor inbuilt memory and receiver just don't agree.

Sorry Darkman but I don't know where you get info from but from my experience my motek motor has NEVER lost a position NEVER broke down, and NEVER had a problem with USALS with use of a Pace sat Technomate or any other box and is currently working fine(with Spiderbox 9000) after 2 of the worst winters recorded, and as far as I know is one of the biggest selling Motors available, dont be so defensive about the spiderbox it is a great box, but I think most owners will agree when it comes to stability and reliabilty Sat Motors Win hands down, If you disregard any issue by blaming other equipment then there would never be need for Firmware updates to solve Problems, issues would never be resolved No one would sell any boxes, think about it!

M8....when Moteck been create i been there...and i have help them too...there and London hw to fix their motors...even when they sold for fist time in UK to ME and KH.... in that time i was helping and create Mondial STB 9-10 Years agou....after motek here been after drs and after they produse for TM nd i been with TM too do not foget that i have sold more then ever one else Motek in the right time...i could even do OEM brand Motek but they have no think more good ..the only think they like and was ask to do was just to cut price ansd follow me AGAIN with Superior Darkmotor ...Metal gear nd other s/w. For that you see after TM 2500 and Tm 2600 ..they stay 2 years to copy our metal gear ...but to enter in Market they have undercut prices in their Cost...Do not forget we produse in same Coutry when labor cost is same for them and me haw they can be that cheap !? easy cut the cost in the meterials...
ah do not get for advertise where si their spirit of inovative !****>copy Darkmotor or what!? We see if they can copy this too.

M8...Fist try to factory default your stb....and reset again to tuch both buttons in Darkmotor..
If this do not fix again your motor problem...check the cable and
f-conectors... or check to change all cable with some good one...
if this not help the motor is gone manufature fult to be honest...
