The processor is already busy and so littl eoverhead to shift data.
You'll notice it goes slowest with DVB-S2 MPEG4 HD, slow with DVB-S MPEG2 HD and not quite as slow with normal DVB-S MPEG2 SD.
I get about 2 MBytes/s at best.

oh so its a system resource issue...thats a bit rubbish - the processor shouldnt have to do much really, surely its the NIC at work.
anyway, cheers for the info.

I FTP using Filezilla, find it much quicker that way

hmmm, i just UNC to the path \\192.168.0.6\root\storage\record ing.ts - surely it will be the same speeds to FTP'ing.

Just tested - tuned to BCC News and put into standby then tried to FTP a 4Gb file.
Via FTP (WINSCP) - 2.57 MB/s (~20Mb/s)
Via UNC (File MGR) - 3.11 MB/s (~24Mb/s)

Interesting point - when copying files to the S4000 with an Enigma2 image (AAF MME v2) I can get 5 MB/s (40 mbit/s) if i copy when the box is in mediaserver mode (i.e tuners off).
