is there a way to manage plugins from PC over LAN rather than downloading the plugin, and sticking it on a USB stick, and installing it physically onto the box?

is there a management app to do it?

I think you can just copy them to the var folder but you must make sure that you put the "content" of Plugin in the Var folder.
But didn't try this so it may be best if you wait for a confirmation from someone more experienced
