I'm thinking to buy a spyderbox and would like some feedback from owners.
How do you like the box and the "free gift"? :respect-051:
Is it hard to set up the box from start?

slime345,
had my box just over a year now, and have to say it is an excellent bit of kit. Very easy to use, loads of channels open, great support from Darkman and team. I just use mine with the Service + which you will get with the box, but there are also other possibilities. Also selling at a great price at the moment.

That's about it. Box must be connected to internet for service+ to clear channels.

the list of available channels is never up to date, that would involve a lot of work and effort and be wrong the day after it was published, like the dictionary in black adder 2 :)
service+ is the one you want for the gift and that needs to register and connect , you also turn ucas on , networking on and add the latest softcam too

Enough said by all the above.
Spider is a top notch piece of kit with a tremendous support team to back it up.
The BEST investment I have made in twenty plus years of sattelite tv.
You wont be disappointed,

M8, the spider is a good box [but not perfect]..it does go down sometime's [that's part of the game!!]..I've had one of my spider's for over a year and it's still working [its paid for it'self]..The support is quite good but the people that support it [not all of them] can be a bit abrupt..[check other site's]..as this thread show's there are people that are pleased with this box but there are people that slag the box off [for there own reason's]..In my opinion it does nearly all it say's on the tin..the picture quality is good the sound is good the patches can play up sometime's [but get fixed]..some channel's go down sometime's [that's to be expected]..Other's are added..Been in this game for a long time now [stand alone decoder's]...cam's card's progammer's etc [must and did spend a fortune]..So all in all with the spider +the net +patches theres alway's something to watch..
Well said Terry, could not have said it better, great value for money, and better value than cams etc.

Ok then my opinion is.
Pro's
Good price, Good picture, Good Tuner, simple menus, PVR works fine and can play avi's and has Cccam and service plus.
Con's
EPG, No FTP, No mkv, no network browser, channel list set out, slow channel zapping, usals only to one decimal point.
While the box would be good for a beginner as a linux user its not for me.

Spiderbox is excellent. Its smart looking, nice remote. I like the OSD. The menu has a nice layout and is easy to navigate, also channel hopping is good; plenty of sort options for channel's as well. Easy to group your favorites. The picture is sublime.
Also the Spiderbox is practically plug and play and thus makes it a (new) user friendly box.
Support is second to none.
