Any news of new f/w for fixes and enhancements?
It seems to have gone quiet for this stb. I´m still getting the odd crash
which may be related to the plugin and/or card.
It would be nice if also the open epg could populate, say, the first 50
channels and continuously update from standby.
Fingers are crossed (again).

im happy with my box now that it doesnt crash daily!
(this was caused by my freesat card and Octacam MCAS)

I'm happy with mine,
Although I've recently noticed that the pic goes out of sync with some HD channels when Xcam glitches.
I don't remember this happening before.
Still I must be lucky as my Sly freesat card doesn't crash with mcas.

midnight i'm having the same problem with Hd Channels, maybe a bug in the new f/w ?
i'm using 1.08.82

It must be a bug in either the FW or the latest xcam, hope it gets fixed.
Another bug I've noticed is that if I switch my stb to standby when I switch it back on there's no sound. I have to switch it back off and on again and then its fine. Anyone else get this?

i will polish the chip, and reinsert and see if it happens again.
so glad i nailed it tho, its a good solid box now.

Hopefully today´s .83 f/w will solve some of the stability problems.
I´m still very pleased with this machine - so far
five people have purchased it on my recommendation and two others are
in the process.

hopefully they have fixed the typo's LOL

New F/W seems very stable now.
I'm running with a very good share and haven't had a glitch in 2 hours.
Along with the Open EPG and all the other improvements this box has now reached a postion where I am one very happy punter :respect-055:
Many thanks to the Icecrypt crew :bowing-036:

It´s gone very quiet again on the s4000.
Perhaps ColdAsIce has some news on any future developments of this box.
It would be useful if recordings made without a card could be routed
through the card reader when the card is reinserted so that they clear.
This box has come a long way since I bought it and I´m pleased with it.

I'm glad your pleased with it. I still believe these are one of the best machines on the Market at present.
As things have moved along, certain issues do get forgotten along the way.
I will remind the development guys about routing the recordings via the card reader.
Thanks for the reminder.

I agree.
Any news yet?

Everyone is busy getting ready for the German Cable and Satellite show next week so I wouldn't expect a reply too soon.
Wrong time of the year for fast responses in the sateliite Industry.

By the way Buck401 what CAS have you been using? They did ask me but the alzheimer's is getting worse with age.
buck401
28-04-2011, 02:38 PM
CAS? What´s that?
All I´m running is the latest f/w .94 and the latest plugin using Mcas - all on my s4000.
It´s fairly stable with only the odd freeze.
My Alzheimer´s is proberbly much more advanced - well into the seventies!

"I would explain what I heard from our engineer as following.
If you do encrypted recording, receiver try to save data for descramble.
In this case, some plugin like mgcamd cannot work, but Mcas can work.
If you try to record channels through different Tuners on Two Tuner model, playback is not possible at the same time due to ST Chip performance.
Please consider about this and let me know your decision."
Its a little Koreanlish but I think they are trying to say it that it should work with Mcas but only a single recording at a time due to hardware restrictions.
Let me know your exact set up and I will try to duplicate it here and then I should be able to walk them through this problem together.

Fixed dish on 28deg E.
F/W .94
Plugin and running Mcas using white card.
Even a single unscrambled recording will not clear when the card is put in.
Interestingly when I attempt to do this the recording goes through at high speed
showing a blank screen.
Cheers for your reply.
I await further developments!

I have repeated your set up here and confirmed your issue.
They have been informed. Lets hope they are listening.

Any news on further improvements to the Open EPG?
It`s a bit of a pain to keep loading up after re-booting. If there´s a memory issue
it may be possible to auto load, say, the first 54 channels (or services) and continuously
update them.
Just a thought.

Would it be possible to use a USB stick of sufficient memory for this?

ICE - any news yet on the card reader?
In passing - I see that some of the s4000 recently purchased have 2 card readers. Are
all the new ones with the 2 readers and do they both have Conex embedded?
Just remove the blanking plate for a nice surprise.

Well... it´s been some time since we´ve had any f/w upgrades or fixes for the
dear old s4000.
A number of minor bugs need to be addressed such as a juddering during the playback
of long recordings. I know it can be fixed by stopping the playback and restarting
but it is irritating.
Still no news on the routing of playback through the card reader.
Hopefully there will be some news soon. Fingers crossed!!

Sorry m8 this issue is getting embarrassing.
I thought it would be better to say I haven't forgotten though.
I have my fingers crossed that they are listening this time.

there is also the issue of the glitching on HD channels , which I do not get if I use a spiderbox on the exact same feed , and as its say bbc1HD , bbcHD and itv1HD which are fta do not blame any other source like cards etc
the SD channels are fine , but HD breaks up just on a straight feed from any dish
also be good if you could get an onscreen display showing the ecm details like on the spiderbox and dreambox
it would also be great if you could turn off the NAR that sometimes kicks in , like turning off subtitles , or having the default to always be the correct audio
ideally we need an epg system where it updates all the channels in the list and not just the page onscreen
lastly , having a soft reboot in the menu like on a spiderbox would also be handy
ColdAsICE
17-06-2011, 06:17 PM
ecm display details depend on the plugin used. These by their very nature varie from plugin to plugin(not in the spiderbox as this is not a linux based reciever). There are some S4000 plugin's that do show some ecm details in a form of presentation like the Spiderbox. As there is no control of plugins its not something I could put in a wish list.
The Audio carrier selection problem and the soft reboot has now been added as requested.
As for the full EPG list well that has been in request ever since the seven day page solution was launched but the page is better than none as it is with the Spiderbox.
Lets hope the powers at Icecrypt are listening.
