recording problem

I have an irritating problem when pressing the red "Record" buttion to a USB stick. The box starts to record when I press at the start of the programme. But then stops recording after a few sweconds/minutes. I think its due to the actual programme starting a few seconds before the advertised time? so the box thinks its the end of the previous programme?
Any ideas? (TM6900HDsuper combo)

Bloody annoyed! Set the TM usb timer for 0700 this morning and nothing happened. Missed the last chance to record a programme I really wanted to keep. I have a DVD recorder but its scart so not so good for replay thats why I put it on a stick then transfer it back and forth to my laptop.
